Brake Caliper Covers for Tesla Model 3 / Model Y Review and Installation

On these Caliper Covers, the R4 and R5 were reversed or mislabeled on ours. It was the last one I installed. It didn’t look right and I could see the R4 & R5 markings sticking out from under the caliper when it was all mounted and tightened down. After a few iterations of taking it off and putting it back on, we realized the R5 went on the top and the R4 went on the bottom. If you suffer the same frustrations, swap them out. It doesn’t say to do that anywhere, but it worked for us.

Thank you for your input. It's not the first time I have heard of issues like that. I always recommend that DIYers test fit the products to make sure everything works as promised before final install.

I painted my calipers when I first got my model Y. Then repainted them a year later. But I’m going to buy the caliper cover and see how I like them. Good video

Painting is a great option, but this requires less prep and is cheaper.

I just installed these and your instructions here were helpful. Yes, I noticed that the fit between the two rears was a little different. I checked the fit and the clearance (using a flashlight) to ensure nothing was coming near the rotor and that the two parts that hug the caliper fit snugly. I also wiggled the caliper covers to ensure everything was nice and tight and tightened all the bolts a little at a time to keep things even. The stickers did NOT come installed. I was very annoyed by this because just peeling the stickers was not easy and the lettering kept sticking to the wrong side so I had to fiddle with it. But I did that part in an air conditioned and comfortable place before doing the installation. It took a good 1/2 hour and I really with they'd just put the stickers on for us (but I'm sure there are worse things that can go wrong 🙂so I'm over it). Also, I'm wondering how those stickers will hold up esp. when doing a wash (probably want to avoid a power washer). I still like the look and I'm happy you made the video so thanks!

So far, I have not heard of the caliper covers becoming loose and falling off. Most of the new ones are shipped with loctite on the bolts.
