I bought a used Hyster electric front axle for building a tractor with. I couldn't get one drum to turn, so I pulled the drum and axle to see what was wrong. I turns out that there were a bunch of walnuts in the brake drum that evidently a squirrel had deposited through the access hole on the brake plate. It's nice and smooth rolling now. The ratio is 4.5:1, and I'll use a hydrostatic pump and motor to run it, and I'll probably use a Kohler command pro 27 HP engine.

As someone that assembles drive axles for lift trucks for hyster, it makes me cringe when I see people hit the hub with a hammer. Never do that.

Hi. I have a Komatsu LP truck model FG25ST-16 that needs a brake job. Is there a special tool to remove the nut after you remove the axle?
