Fantastic solution to trying to recondition old, rare gummy rubber hoods. Awesome work!

@EurekaBikeworks Hi there, recently as a few months back. I had commented on your video section with a question in regards to the type of leather and thickness you had used for the grip hoods. Unfortunately, my browser had accidentally deleted my entire comment in the comment section below. I guess that brings me to ask again if you could still recall where or what type of leather or thread you were able to use for the assembly. Specifically what thickness is preferred? All I do remember were some links to a few sheets of leather you had recommended? Let me know your thoughts. Thank you!

These are beautiful.. excellent work! I am going to attempt my own for an old set of Shimano Ultegras whose hoods have basically turned to goo after years in a Caribbean climate. I'd like to use the same stitch, but need a closer look on the technique.. Could you tell me the name of the stitch you used? Much appreciated 🙏🏼

Probably not the most comfortable to the hands if you do long rides, but astonishing craftsmanship skills. Very nice! ❤

This is fantastic work. How long, more or less, did this take you? Do you think wet-forming would work here?

Could you please provide me with the names of the tools you used, ie., size needles, type and name of thread, hole punches (or the name of the tool) , and anything else you think I will need to make these. You did an awesome job and it looks great. I have a LeMond Zurich with Shimano ST-6500 shifters that has brake hoods which are no longer being made (as of 10 yrs ago) nor are available anywhere. This looks like a feasible and way more attractive alternative

They’re beautiful, but do you actually ride? The seams are gonna be hard on the hands, & gloves will wear the threads. I’ve been considering this myself because I want hoods & bar tape to match the Brooks saddle on my Paramount. It’s silver w/ lots of bright-work, I like the classic gumwalls & leather look, & even if I didn’t nothing rides like a Brooks on a premium steel frame, so leather it is. I’m not a leather worker, but I am a toolmaker/engineer. My plan is to at least attempt vacuum bagging a wet mold w/ the seams opposite the hands - on newer Campy brake/shifter hoods. I’m thinking I’ll start w/ 3D scans & printed duplicates of the hoods. My Paramount is a 3x9 resto-mod, & part of the idea is to de-emphasize the slightly more modern group set. Again, yours look great - glad to see somebody actually went there.
