In this video we show how to install a brake proportioning valve on a Dodge Viper GTS ACR model to balance the bias braking from the front to the rear. We install this proportioning valve by wilwood to reduce the line pressure for the braking on the rear brakes of this car. We installed Brembo 4 piston calipers all the way around on this vehicle for improved braking but will need to reduce the brake line pressure to the rear in order to not lock up the rear brakes.
Here is the proportioning valve we used

I just put Russel Speed Bleeders on the 6 piston Wilwoods on my '72 Datsun 240Z. I tried the vacuum pump method first and got so many bubbles, I was never sure if they were bled well or not. The speed bleeders have a coating of sealer on the threads that don't leak. I love them. One man brake bleed. Thanks for the video.

Omg thats why willwood give you those fittings because the std master fitting/nut screws straight into the bias valve thus no need to use the optional fitting they provide! Also to be honest you have made fitting a simple inline valve sound/look like the most complex thing ever so instead of trying to break it down into baby steps you have actualy made it hugely complex😂 you gonna scare the whitts outta people! Well it is halloween i guess! Five out of ten !

Bleeding brakes by yourself sucks. I used to put a 2x4 between the pedal and floor after pumping them up to hold down brake. It took a while but worked.

When I did this to my 2000 ACR, I remember the factory proportioning valve had a sensor on it. When I installed the Wilwood Proportioning Valve kit from ISPCO it came mounted on a bracket with no sensor port. So I have a harness that isn't plugged in and no warning lights. Did you have the same thing on yours? Not sure what it's for.

I appreciate your videos! If you do gen3+ on front and the old fronts to rear. Do you still need a proportioning valve? For some reason i think i read that its not needed since it kept the bias somewhat close to factory. I want to change mine just for safety reason, but also at the same time, i'm torn on hacking up the rear knuckle lol.

No matter what you replace your tears with you will need to cut rear knuckle but it’s not a big deal there’s lots of them out there if you want to ever go back stock. Just keep a look out on eBay for used ones if you want

After installing the Val bed did u notice. That the pressure coming out is really small no matter how u adjust the valve I ask cause I’m having that issue

is that a disk to disk proportion valve on the car and you put that ajustable propotion valve on it ?

You mention that, being a 2000, it doesn't have the ABS which is why you need the proportioning valve. Mine is an 01 with the ABS. Can I skip the proportioning valve? (May still do it to increase the user control of the brake pressure.)
@BoostedMotorsports
@BoostedMotorsports 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't looked into yours but your car will have a ABS pump/distribution block were you would probably need to restrict the pressure after the pump.

Since I have a 2002 with ABS would i not need the proportioning valve and just be able to hook the gen 3 Calipers as you did in the other videos?
@modlist6129
@modlist6129 3 жыл бұрын
You’ll still need it, because the old caliper is small it uses more force once you use a better caliper it will still use that same force but that’s where the problem is, it uses same force on a caliper that doesn’t need it so it will throw off the bias of the brakes. The pv will allow you to adjust how much force to want to the rear and the front

I am not understanding how it is plumbed. you have two lines coming out of the master cylinder. you installed the valve in the line that only feeds the two rears? Was there just no proportioning valve at all before?
@MoparMan-ff8fb
@MoparMan-ff8fb 2 жыл бұрын
same here my under standing is the adjustable valve is suppost to plumbed between the rear brakes and the portioning block / brass metering block . not between the master cylinder and the portuoning block

Did you have to double flare ?

It shouldve been a double flare but he didnt do one, didnt have the right tool, smdh.
@jizomeovonsteelwind
@jizomeovonsteelwind 10 ай бұрын
It looks like you only used a single flare on the new ends of the lines you adjusted. I hope it held for you, but for brake lines you should really only use double as opposed to single, for safety.
@Inthefoxhole

Stainless steel lines are the only lines you should use a single flare on.

Why didn't you just flare the original line on the side you cut?? Lol
@Climb385
@Climb385 4 жыл бұрын
Good work but just saying you could have just reused the section on line you cut out from the car itself, I know it didn’t cost much but you coulda done it without having to buy new line, especially since yours was in nice shape no rust or anything
