Never use brake clean on rotors Dawn soap and water. Dawn lifts up the grease and metal particles and washes all off. Brake clean just moves them around, creating high spots and causing a pulsation. Try both methods then take a white business card a rub it on both cleaning methods. The brake clean side will have a gray tint on the card. The Dawn side will leave no residue.

@@melplishka5978 All bolts stretch when torqued. That's what is supposed to happen. Anti-seize gives you the most even and precise torque readings. It's why ARP sends anti-seize with all their hardware. They have proven tests that you get the most accurate torque. Also, if you are properly torquing the hardware you'll never break it. And I wouldn't trust anything the Canadian government says after seeing how they hate free speech and all during the COVID-19 pandemic response. Locking up religious leaders and people for practing their faith? I know of another country that did that and it didn't end well.

Just wondering where is the caliper at an why are there brake shoes on a roter or why are there were marks on the out side of the roter is there a new breaking system I need to be aware of or is there supposed to be a drum on there instead of a roter

It should be a rubber gasket in this big hole on a rotor!! That hole made to adjust your emergency brakes when it needs with out removing rotor.

Meant to say they’re the exact same.. besides usually the way they are activated as these are only “on” when the parking brake is set.. so easier to do as there’s very rarely a hydraulic element to these.. only a cable and hellacious spring. Good luck on future projects!

There are no bearings there. What you are looking at is the end of the axle. Nice try at trying to sound like you know something though.

I wonder why the manufacturers don’t put anti-seize on the flange?…oh yeah, because when you torque the wheel up and the grease tries to force it’s way out, but can’t completely, and then it heats up, and then may come out some more, and then the torque applied the the nuts is lessened and can make the wheel loose. That’s why.

Exactly. You want as clean and flush of a mating surface as possible. This is no bueno.

You’re over-complicating this. I’ve never had antiseize cause an issue on a wheel hub. Living in the “rust belt” of the USA, it is almost a necessity to apply it if you want your wheel to come off without beating on it.

@@-Multigrade- I don’t use a lot, just a small amount. I had to use a mechanical gear puller to remove a stuck brake rotor from a hub a few years ago. I also put a very small amount on the rotor hub as you said. When you have to deal with rust and road salt on cars that just see regular driving, antiseize does help.

I think what he's asking is, " what's this hole fer? ". I am guessing it's to adjust the small set of brake shoes that make an E-brake function on that RWD with rear disk brakes.

Its anti seize not hub grease.. Its common practice (if you have knowledge) to put it right where he did so it does not rust together in the future. I have been wrenching for almost 20 years now and I will never put this style back together without anti seizing those contact points where the hub and rotor meet.
