*Brand New Class 701 On Test!* @Wareham & Wool 26/06/20

Welcome back guys to another video, today we finally get to see 701002 complete training between Weymouth and Wareham without the helping hand of a pair of Class 66 units. in this video you will see the service arrive at Wareham station where it will sit in the platform for around 15 minutes before its departure towards Dorchester South, we catch another couple of sightings of the Unit passing through Wool with Sparks coming from the feet of the Unit. we also see the class 444 unit cross the level crossing shortly after the class 701 unit passes wool for the last time as the 444 is simply there to take the 701 back towards Weymouth if anything was to go wrong like in my previous video.

They look good. However one wonders about the viability of these units in the current climate where rail travel has dramatically dropped especially in to Waterloo, the likelihood level of traffic not returning to pre Covid levels until 2022/23 and the also SWR franchise.

I think that passenger numbers will never recover after Covid. Rail travel is just too expensive, and the days of commuting are over as people will just not stump up the rip off season ticket prices and will work from home instead.

Simon Chalker i got really lucky, i didn’t rain when i was out filming however when i was in the car waiting it rained. i’m looking forward to them tbh. they have a really nice design

@@SpottersUK Yes, they certainly do. I believe there's a rivalry in design between the Desiro City from Siemens in Germany and the Aventra by Bombardier in the UK because I think there is right now.
