If I was going to transfer media I'd do it over the lan, wifi 6e can do around 10gbps which is more than fast enough for me, I wouldnt bother with usb.

Can it read from one of those big external 2TB or more HDDs? If you can. I might get one! I have two old antiquated by today’s standards Fire Sticks - one upgraded from the earlier one! If the media player could create playlists of my music, shuffle them, have a cool visual display, display track information and album art, it might be worth a look!

I am a huge fan of yours Doc! I have 3 gen 2 cubes working two with ethernet connections and one on wi fi. All three work very nicely. I would love to have a 3rd gen cube. I am using Fire TV Cube 2nd gen. I use a micro usb expander adapter with built-in ethernet port instead of the one ethernet adapter that comes with the cube. I ran speed test and got more more than 400Mbps vs 90mbps for the included adapter. Not sure why Amazon went cheap by still using the obsolete 100Mbps chip in their latest Cube TV 3rd gen and have the nerve to sell it for $138usd for this device.

One of the new features of the cube that interest me is the media player via usb and wonder if it will have the codecs to play avi files if not, could it be downloaded. Hi, I am using Fire TV Cube 2.gen. 2019. And would realy like to try new gen.3. My questions are: 1. Is speaker on gen.3 better quality then gen2. Like comparing echo dot 2 and echo dot 3? Cube 2nd is like echo dot2, just bad for music listening. And 2. How many microphones gen.3 has? There are only 4 holes on top? Not 8 holes like on 2nd gen cube.
