I wish I could tell him how much this song, and many others of his have saved my life. How they get through to me. How Brand New has helped me live. I wish I could shake his hand and tell him how he has helped me cry in the dark on my bed until I know I can make it through the next day. How he has been an inspiration me to push on in everything I do.

I agree 100%, I grew up down the block from where he grew up I was super close to meeting him but I’m sure he knows he helped so many people 🤍

Jesse is still a Man/child here but between about 8-10 Live versions of this song on KZbins, the recorded one, and acoustic: Idk why but I love this version the most. I can feel the epitome of how much this song tortutes Jesse in this performance *God and the Devil are raging inside me*

Are you kidding? Those fans make full Brand New shows so incredible. Brand New is definitely not the tightest live band during a full concert, but they play with such emotion and the screaming fans do nothing but add to this.
@julianrosado569810 ай бұрын
I had never seriously listened to Brand New until my ex took me to their show, I went to see Modest Mouse, I will admit…. Modest Mouse was amazing, i won’t minimize their talent, absolutely majestic. But then I heard Brand New for the first time ever. I really listened. The emotion, the vibe, the scores of fans crying and singing… it is still the best show I’ve ever been to and I’ve seen damn near 100 bands live. I became a huge fan right there and then. Fate would have it, it was one of the last shows they ever played so I treasure the memory.

Brian - "How can I make this song even MORE badass?"
@TaylorTrace9010 жыл бұрын
Being that the song is speaking to Jesus and that particular part is about his inner struggle with rather he believes he deserves to go to heaven or not, he also takes a moment to question if anyone really does. "I know you're coming for the people like me" Good or bad, I'm not sure. "But we've all got wood and nails" and the next line I believe to be "We're turned out in hate factories" referring to the hate in the world.
@christophergordon87477 жыл бұрын
Trace Taylor that's exactly how I took it and pretty much the same response he gave me when I asked him about that song. after that he added, "It's the song that's helping me go back to my roots. Back to my faith and just saying, I acknowledge I've done wrong and am sorry I started losing touch with it. I'm sorry I started losing touch with You (God)."
