Break in period is first 1000 miles. Not supposed to go above 4k rpm during break in.

Break in is really important. I didn’t used to think so but BMW gave me a car that was broken in at cool temps at sea level and a car that was not broken in properly in the heat and elevation….i was absolutely shocked at the difference in power between the two. Night and day…felt like a couple hundred horsepower difference.

Yep. I drove it everywhere and anywhere the first two weeks to get to 1000 miles. Now that that’s done…, the fun can begin,

Exactly it’s a brand new car. You’re not supposed to go all in just yet

We’ve had similar issues with an aftermarket exhaust on ours and I've spent countless hours trying to figure it out, so hopefully this helps in your situation. Is it P1018 CEL you’re getting? If so, the valve needs to be recalibrated by the Lotus diagnostic after putting the stock exhaust back on to stop the CEL, as it looks like you figuired out at the end of the video. The P1018 code is "Valve not able to reach commanded position". These valves are extremely sensitive and include a load sensor to detect how much force is being put on the valve by backpressure. The ECU uses this data to determine the position of the valve in realtime, so it's not as simple as jsut open/close like it is on some other cars. The "fix" in your case if you want to retain the titanium exhaust will be to use a Milltek valve controller to force the valve open at all times whilst returning an "OK" signal to the ECU. Even with the spring calibrated correctly, the reduction in backpressure with your setup will likely still result in a CEL due to the load sensor. Hope this helps.

It wasn’t exactly broken I guess. I think it’s just a safety feature the car has since it’s a brand new car you shouldn’t really stress the redline much till about 1k miles. Just my thoughts.

Bummer the exhaust had to be swapped back but glad you could make the journey. Can’t wait to see it tuned!

Thanks for the video. Mine is being built now and is very similar to yours spec wise. I’m very curious to see how sorting out the titanium exhaust goes as it looks (and via video sounds) awesome!

Within the first 42 seconds of your video I could see you revving it way above the 4K rpm limit. Did nobody tell you? I’m not saying that’s the limp mode issue - but Lotus make it quite clear for the first 1000 miles stay below 4k rpm. Sounds like a software issue though…
@OperationRacecar8 ай бұрын
Honest answer? No lol. Dealer told me to drive between 3k-5k rpms. But the general comment consensus is that was incorrect info lol.

@@OperationRacecar Ha ha - Mine comes in 4 weeks (apparently - I'm not holding my breath!) Did the problem resolve itself? Also - I don't understand why this isn't done - but with all the technology these days - why can't a car self limit itself for the first 1000 miles - then the job is sorted from the outset?

@@meenboli Nice thats awesome dude! Pumped for you. I put stock exhaust back on and had Lambo reset it with their computer. I do agree with what you're saying!
