BRAND NEW ROCKET FAST Schindler Port traction elevators @ Summit One Vanderbilt Midtown New York, NY

HOLY SHIIIIIITTTTTT THESE ARE FUUCKING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!
First off these things accelerate like a fucking high speed Mitsubishi it’s insane. Second off the presentation is soooo fucking cool I absolutely love it. Third off these things are the 6th elevators installed in the US to be 1800 FPM & the first Schindlers to do so. I absolutely love these things so much & the observation deck overall is fucking amazing.
Unfortunately out of every observation deck in the US this one has the most security & they did not let me take multiple rides on the elevators. I felt like I had to determine the speed so I decided to ask someone else to record the ride down while I speed tested. Unfortunately like always they recorded in vertical cam so I’m sorry for the vertical cam footage on the ride down. Anyways with all that in mind, enjoy this video!

These elevators are really fast which does skip a lot of floors, but it does go up to the 91st and 92nd floor so crazy, but they are really incredible that it did or did not show the “EZ” appearing on the indicator.

Personally my favorite observation deck. I remember asking the guy on 92 if I could take multiple rides but he said he could get fired if he let me do that. He did allow me to take it down alone though!

These elevators are insane which go like at around 9 m/s which is incredibly fast, and its by far the fastest ever in New York I believe!

Yeah it’s because for the express zone it doesn’t show “EZ” in the indicator it just goes straight from 1 floor to another. A lot of elevators do that actually & ThyssenKrupp elevators do that almost all the time.

I’m aware of more than 6 elevators in the USA that travel 1800fpm. My work has 20 elevators that travel 1800fpm. Where did you get your statistic from?

Honestly it wasn’t really a confirmed statistic. I just said 6 because I’ve only heard of 6 but I’m more than aware that there are probably lots of buildings in NY that are 1800. The ones I’ve seen on YT are John Hancock, Bank Of America Atlanta, Stratosphere LV, Wilshire Grand LA, World Trade Center skylobby, & these.
