Their integrated cable system seems like a nice compromise of access and aero, but it looks vulnerable to water intrusion if taking spray from the bike in front of you during rain.

@@yicheng1991 But to be fair, James (the presenter) did say that he'd just received it. Would you prefer to wait a month for some hands-on experience or see the bike now in the flesh? Personally I'm pleased to see the model he had there as it's pretty ugly in that spec compared to the other versions. Boring grey! Why? This is likley to be the biggest seller in the range so why such a dull looking bike.

@@LarsRR Surely the Emonda is also targeted at lightweight climbers and not big crit specialists. 350 W for be 6 W/kg for me. If I could do that for an hour as an amateur then I could probably become a worldtour rider. And that's assuming a 1 hour TT, not a normal race. And if your in the female half of the population that power is even more absurd.

I have last year's model and there's a surprising amount of toe overlap (56cm frame). It's also a very nimble, perhaps squirrely, bike. Perhaps if the wheel angle was steeper, bringing it closer towards the frame, it would be too unstable and if the frame was larger and pushed up to the wheel, it would lose that snappy handling the Emonda has?

@DaveCM

Because the demand from consumers is for disk brake. It would cost a lot of money to develop two completely different bikes and they would sell fewer bikes of each to disperse the cost. If they develop basically one frame to do both with few changes, each would be a compromise.

I purchased EMONDA SL6 pro. The screw which constraints the turn of the handlebar was broken. Thus the turn went beyond the limit and the ring marked go-go-go hitted the frame. The paint got damaged. I brought the bike to my supplier and they talked to TREK. TREK installed a new screw and new ring go-go-go. TREK didn't want to repair the scratches on the paint of the frame caused by the limitless turning. Now I have a new super bike with scratches on the frame. I didn't expect that from TREK. Low customer support and poor warranty. Bad experience. I feel dissapointed. The bike itself is a super bike but the warranty service does not work as it should.

geisslersonMC this was never intended to be a review, merely a first look or ‘showcase’ - it says so in the title! We will be doing a proper review in the future when I am happy that I have tested the bike enough.

350 watts ?!?! C'mon guys , what about the below 200 watts mediocre C riders like the rest of us ? The bike industry is getting g outta control with all this marketing baloney 🤣🤣🤣

They wanna make it aero and they slam the disc brakes on???? Marketing gimmick. Disc brakes really spoilt the look of the bicycles. it truly is the biggest gimmick in the history of bicycles. it is really sad.

I have had the Trek Émonda SLR 9 Durace for 6 weeks now and I can honestly say that the bike looks beautiful - it is a bike made for glossy reviews or magazine articles for sure - BUT it rides and sounds like a pig. It is a bone shaker even with just 90psi in the 28mm tyres. The disc brakes are all power and no finesse or feel and the drive train is the noisiest I have ever known plus when coasting the free hub sounds like a chainsaw at full tilt. Other than that it is fine. Except for the saddle which is shit. Dream bike? Hardly. Way overrrated and way way over priced. Now there is an honest review for you!

Noodles... Linguine noodles. These sub 700gram frames do not have enough pedaling stiffness to make them good climbers. Last Emonda I test rode did not impress. Threaded BB does not necessarily mean trouble free performance. Good frame build quality does. Since Trek moved all carbon frame manufacturing to Taiiwan, their quality control has been less than satisfactory.

The bottom bracket has never been good of trek hahah, it's just shit because in time te carbon in the bracket wil become bigger and the bearings wil not fit anymore .....

if you was doing the time trial, you'd have to shave that rat from under your nose, some drag going on there.
