That's great stuff, those are really high dollar units, the quality is out of sight, you couldn't find anything that well made today.

I remember walkie talkies from the 1980s. For the last 20 or so years, there was something similar. They are smaller and have a much longer range. They are for hiking. I even remember my oldest sibling having a receiver that could pick up CB bands. That was in the late 1970s.

The telescopic antenna should be opened individually, each telescope separately, the antenna is delicate and expensive, today it costs about $ 50-100. This screw at the bottom of the tin radio opens with a nail or a plastic chip, it is delicate, brass and the casing is made of aluminum. Here, too, some of us did wrong and destroyed these elements. The antennas for work were put on the tip of the complex antenna, unfortunately they had low efficiency then, but it was enough for work. The sound quality was very good, today no equipment of this quality is available. In Europe, the new radio costs around 500-2000 Euro, it is an extreme white crow. The models you have were the most expensive because they were dual modulation. Unfortunately, this reduced the power of the transmitter to about 240mW of carrier power. In Europe, generally only 500mW of power was allowed in AM (2 W input power) and up to 4 W in FM (no input power limit). The modulation was better than all US portable radios. Full use of the transmitter. The power of up to 240mW output was therefore measured in laboratories so that it did not exceed 20mW ERP. This and similar older models resulted in around 7mW ERP. The owner of the brand was Switzerland, the production of 27 Mhz models in Japan, Switzerland paid special attention to the lack of interference in the TV and the health of operators, exposure to radiation toxicity was very critically assessed. The potential of these standards was loosened when FM modulation with a 4W limit was used, but the most powerful devices, due to the relatively low power supply, had a power of 2W output, I do not remember the radiation power, but it was within the new standard, give 100mW ERP but I'm not sure.

Here in Europe they were used in the construction industry, road construction and factories. Such a technique was highly respected and treated delicately. Factory ni-cd chargers, shortened flexible antennas and covers, back / torso slings were available. The device was used by one designated and trained person - so that there was no contact with, for example, impacts, the operator stood next to the employees and only dealt with the radio. Often these devices were not even used because it was a pity to destroy them, they were in a really crisis situation.

Here in Europe, such a radio cost about one month's salary, a Pole or a Russian about a year's salary. Great radio station, hand-made. It was unique for the wealthier elite in Europe.

Was just thinking about your channel yesterday; good to see you're still around. You should transmit some data over those! Anyways I was wondering, how is the custom cell phone project going?

in the USA CB radio bands are am band only, never seen a am/FM radio HT .nice find, excellent find on the radio.

Yes radios like that bring back a lot of memories. If you look at stranger things on Netflix they use the old Radio Shack realistic radios on that show.

Yeah, I sometimes feel like a part hoarder ;) I like for my collection to be complete, so when I have that great idea - I won't have to order them. And there's a lot more than scopes, and each scope has its own purpose, 1 is a digital sampling color scope for data recording, the other one is a digital/analog for monitoring of slow changes, the last one is analog for real-time operations, there are Frequency counters, Multimeters, Function Generators, PSU's and much more.

Tommy Helgevold almost no way to avoid it. You knew me from DF forum. I haven't been active for a while due to interest migration. MCUs lead to flight stabilizers which lead to higher performance rc airplanes to push the envelope of the flight controllers which of course kicks in the door of all the new radio control gear.... it just adds to the pile
