The activation mandatory. And it has to lower its ATK & DEF by 1000 to negate. If it has less than 1000 ATK or DEF, it trys to activate but it doesn't resolve. Would also negate your own cards and nuke your board if it dies, so you have to carefull with that.

yes it's mandatory. reducing its own stats is part of the effect and it's not a requirement, which means it keeps doing that everytime it gets the chance. the good part is that it acts as a chainblock, and prevents the enemy from using Ash Blossom on your cards, or whatever effect that needs to be activated on direct response to certain cards or effects.

Read the card bro it says once per chain if a spell/trap card, or monster effect IS activated (quick effect) this card loses exactly 1000 atk/def and IF it does, negate the activation. So it’s gonna activate every time, but the negation won’t happen UNLESS it loses 1000 atk/def

Don't ever try reverse trap it doesn't work with light and darkness dragonlord, instead use 3x "armory call" and 1-2 moon mirror shield chain armory call to dragonlord and equip it with moon mirror and whenever it battles its attck will reset to full

@duelistemperor4425 yeah because dragonlord specifically states that it has to lose stats to them negate the effect it chained to reverse trap is pretty much useless, and even then it stops gaining stats at 5400attack/5000def and just stops chaining to anything

It reads this card loses 1000 attack n def, AND IF IT DOES negate that effect The "and if it does" is the part that makes it have to lose stats to them negate Also it's last effect allows it to special summon any dragon from the graveyard if it's destroyed by opponent but dragonlord itself cannot be special summoned because of the line "must be fusion summoned" so you'll have to banish it from gy like with bystials then use "branded regained" or "chaos space" to return it to the extra deck from banishment

@@duelistemperor4425 yeah I spent like 4 hours yesterday testing anything I could think of, and armory call/ moon mirror shield is the best way I found to reset it's attack, there's also "blazing, branded burning king" (or something along those lines) trap that negates all effects for the turn and resets dragonlord's effect but it requires either fallen of albaz or a monster that lists it
