Initially LIV tried to attract Tour members to sign with them with a tour comprised of events with $25M in prize money per event with a maximum of 54 players competing for that prize money. At the time, the 4 majors, which generate the highest revenue, offered the most prize money at $15M per event and PGA Tour events offered $8M - $12M per event in prize money with fields of 125 - 155 competing for that money. Despite offering players the chance to play for twice as much in prize money while competing against far fewer players, LIV wasn’t able to sign a single Tour player for the opportunity to earn significantly more in prize money. If LIV was such a great tour, why would players not flock to sign up to play against fewer players for over twice as much prize money? LIV has had to pay huge bonuses to sign Tour players for the opportunity to play for over twice as much in prize money against fields 1/3rd the size of Tour events. Think about that dynamic for a minute because having to pay anyone huge signing bonuses to earn over twice as much in prize money/regular income is counter-intuitive to what happens anywhere else. LIV effectively is paying players huge signing bonuses to eat a sh*t sandwich. LIV has to pay huge signing bonuses to compensate players for effectively giving up top tier competitive golf and play in a Wag The Dog pageant and marketing effort. If LIV was such a great place for top golfers to play, there would be no reason to have to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in bonuses to sign top players, as just the opportunity to play against far fewer players for twice as much in prize money would be a huge income boost by itself. The money LIV players are making is more than they are worth because LIV will never be able to achieve any economic return on the operation of its events and the money they have to pay to players in those events. LIV events don’t come remotely close to generating enough revenue to cover the $25M in event prize money alone and there is a lot more in costs to stage an event than just the cost of prize money. Add the cost of all the signing bonuses LIV has paid and it is clear that LIV events will never generate revenue simply to cover the billions to cover those in cost, let alone provide an economic return on the capital needed to fund those costs. If any business cannot generate an economic return on the investment needed to cover the costs of operation of that business that inherently means the investmrnt to cover those costs is not worth it and what is paid to LIV players is the biggest cost of that enterprise. If LIV was a viable economic enterprise, it could/would be replicated or have already been done. If LIV folded, for example, would there be any entity or person who would/could step in and continue to pay huge bonuses and huge prize money to operate a similar tour? Not a chance. If the PHA Tour went out-of-business, would LIV continue to pay huge signing bonuses and huge prize money? Not a chance, as they wouldn’t have to in otder to get players to play in their events. Would LIV expand the size of their events to 125 - 150 players to provide a place for all Tour players to play if the PGA Tour went out-of-business? Maybe they would and maybe not, but their current shotgun start format can only accommodate a maximum of 54 player fields, so it is clear that LIV didn’t contemplate fields larger than 54 players in it tour format.

Brandel knows NOTHING. Rors went from Project X 6.5 to 7.0 shafts as he started to pump massive iron, getting ripped and then what happens? The shaft is too stiff so he can't turn the ball over as much. At the same time, the ball has gained ball speed so what happens to things that travel fast? They don't CURVE as much. They can't. Unless it slows down. But he, along with everybody else, are going to swing the same way just to get the ball out there. There's a reason why a lot of players hang onto old versions of golf balls for this precise reason!! So Rors has DOUBLED his problems with those 2 things, when he should have at least stuck to the original shaft that was working with the same workouts, instead of doing massive dead lifts trying to huff his chest out in his shirt. The ball travelling faster off the face doesn't really help either, especially when you're trying to carve a draw into things that he was doing when he was winning all the time, now the ball is traveling that much straighter with less spin. So what does he have to do? Try to mitigate some of it by hitting cuts to add more control and more spin, but then he's added a two-way miss into his game that he has not recovered from!!! LIV is not a stupid format!!!! You know who's stupid? The old idiots who are sitting on their high horse in the PGA echelons and the meaningless OWGR that basically says that other leagues around the world don't play at the same level as the US!! which is complete BS, I'd like to see the likes of Scheffler and Thomas and Spieth and Homa play AWAY FROM HOME IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY for WEEKS AT A TIME away from their house, away from their WAGS, away from their home comforts in countries that don't speak their language, try it, TRY IT!!!! having to switch from the 90% humidity in SouthEast Asia one week and then going to the dry deserts of the Arabian peninsula to the jungles of Africa - every other week!!!! Try it!!!! I can guarantee you that regardless of the money purses, they could not perform at the levels they are performing playing at home in the US!!!! The old guards in the world of golf need to get lost, they need to go away and bury their prejudices and the new world of golfers like us need to take over the game and make it into a truly global one, which is what Greg is trying to do, look at how happy the Aussies are that they finally have something they can bring to their land at the high world-class level of competition. No one gets into a major because they average 75 GIR or play 15 under par. You are shown to be the best when you win tournaments or finish high up on the leaderboard. Not hard to understand. The ones that do the best within the tour are the best players deserving to be considered for majors. If you don't like the format then fine, award less ranking points. But you can't ignore the fact that there needs to be some ranking points awarded. If you don't want to award ranking points then at least give exemptions the top X players.
@dorothygale11047 ай бұрын
The 4 majors are conducted by 4 different and independent organizations, none if which is the PGA Tour. Augusta National GC, the R&A, the USGA and the PGA of America all have different criteria for how their fields are determined and that criteria is oublic information. Thise 4 organizations are under no obligation to run their major event any way ither than the way they choose to operate their events. Every player who signed with LIV knew that LIV events don’t meet the long-stated criteria to offer ranking points. LIV players knew their ranking would drop if they only played in LIV events and their ability to qualify for majors nased upon world ranking would be at risk and this is one risk that LIV players were compensated for through the huge signing bonuses. Regardless of world rankings, LIV players always have the opportunity to gain entry into The Open & US Open by playing their way in through qualifying events, which is how the vast majority of past and present PGA Tour players attempt to gain entry to those events. Only the Top 50 in automatically qualify for those two events based solely upon world rankings. There are a lot more than 50 PGA Tour players, not to mention players on other tours, so most players who try to gain entry to those majors do so by playing qualifying events.
