Years ago, i was backstage at a concert at The Gorge where The Mavericks and Mary Chapin Carpenter were playing. I was standing next to Mary while The Mavericks were on and she turned and said, "How can anyone compete with this sunset." When it was her time to go on, she went through a couple tunings and turned to the audience and said (again), "How can anyone compete with this sunset," adding, "I think I am just going the play for a few minutes while we all experience this incredible moment." It is truly a remarkable venue. and now, with two of my all time faves performing this song, it still is an incredible venue.

So sad I missed this show, but glad I have seen so many of hers....When she was 19/20 yrs old Brandi used to play a weekly gig at a bar in Seattle called the Paragon. My sister and I would go as often as we could - she would play these powerhouse 3 hour sets that melted your face. At the end of one of those nights, she was hanging out and we began to chat...I told her, " Brandi, you keep doing what you are doing, and you will be HUGE one day" I will never forget the look she gave me and the beautiful smile she had...she looks up at me, all of 19/20 years old and was like, "Really? You think so?" ...for some reason I can remember that moment better than about any moment from those days of far too many cocktails... intuitively I knew I should remember that I guess. Such a blessing to witness her evolution over these many years🙏❤️ Thank you so much for posting all your videos, means a lot to be able to see them and feel the energy 🙏

Such beautiful lyrics by Sarah McLachlan so beautifully sung by these beautiful voices..... Spend all your time waiting For that second chance For a break that would make it okay There's always some reason To feel not good enough And it's hard, at the end of the day I need some distraction Oh, beautiful release Memories seep from my veins And maybe empty Oh, and weightless, and maybe I'll find some peace tonight In the arms of the angel Fly away from here From this dark, cold hotel room And the endlessness that you fear You are pulled from the wreckage Of your silent reverie You're in the arms of the angel May you find some comfort here So tired of the straight line And everywhere you turn There's vultures and thieves at your back The storm keeps on twisting Keep on building the lies That you make up for all that you lack It don't make no difference Escape one last time It's easier to believe in this sweet madness Oh, this glorious sadness That brings me to my knees In the arms of the angel Fly away from here From this dark, cold hotel room And the endlessness that you fear You are pulled from the wreckage Of your silent reverie You're in the arms of the angel May you find some comfort here You're in the arms of the angel May you find some comfort here.

This reminds me how I saw Lilith Faire a couple years in a row at The Gorge. I always hoped somebody could revive Lilith Faire after Sarah McLachlan stopped doing it. I think Brandi Carlile certainly has the talent and the connections to do it, but it seems like a lot of work. Brandi, can you make something like this happen? The point of Lilith Faire was to promote female artists; you're already doing a good job at that!
