‘Muslim prefered’ is not even the right term to use that’s why. ‘Muslim friendly’ or ‘halal travel’ is more appropriate. Quite good prospects actually… ‘halal booking’ is estimated around USD102 million year 2023.

Wrong title but I support this concept. Should named it "Friendly Muslim Island". We dont know whether this would boost Langkawi economy or not but its no harm to try. To attract all races to go for vacation in a friendly muslim way. Not to reject the non-muslim but to introduce the Malaysian muslim culture to visitors. Welcoming visitors with a nice, friendly and respectful manner. This is the problem in the Malaysian parliment. Left side is lack of explanation. Right side is short sighted.

The whole nation sings the praises of Islam day in day out. It is hard to see how much more Islamic Langkawi wishes to get. By announcing this it seems like a clear sign to the non Islamic community to stay clear of Langkawi. Look at what happened in a "less Islamic" Langkawi a few years back when religious authorities disturbed a European couple in their hotel room. I have my doubts if any Muslim tourist will want to come here to re- live what he has left behind. This is so true of the Arabs. Remember that Thailand is just a stone's throw away, it has no restrictions or self imposed piety. It is simply fair and inviting to all tourists. Good luck Langkawi.
