God damn, that's some thick ice in those water troughs, prob the hardest work Ross has done in a while? Being a historical draft breed from Japan, those wagyu never look much until they spend a few hundred days on feed, as heavy bullocks. We experimented with a bunch of crosses to try and bring them on earlier but as an organic supplier to the grass fed market we could never make it work and settled on a Hertford/Angus (black baldy) cross, with an early maturing Simental terminal sire. Supermarkets loved them. Good to see y'all getting the whole extended family involved in working those weaners. It brings back such fantastic memories, y'all.

Ross is used to it. He has been chopping ice since about 10 with me. Good thing it’s only a few weeks out of the year. Have a wonderful day.

I LOVE it that your horses are allowed to be horses. I was a little positive shocked as Jetry said in a video you bought a stallion who was in the barn his whole life and had no big problems to live a free life with the herd- I think he said only in the first winter he had to feed him more. So much for people who are still letting their horses who only sleep 2 hour's stand in a box- that is SO cruel. 🙋❤️🇦🇹

Yikes, flaming cattle. Have to say I'm still looking forward to a wagyu steak cook off. I was watching a pbs show on Japan and they do seem to pamper the cattle to put on that amount of fat that they have. Do y'all play classical music and give them beer? Something to think about. Just kidding of course.

This video brought old memory: Recent West Point graduate in artillary division circa 1950s state-side. His group sent to Colorado with the "animals" (i.e., mules) to shoot ordinance in those parts of the mtns that were at risk of avalanche. No shelter or turn-out barn, the animals naturally clustered together -- as your yearlings seem to be doing -- to keep warm when not working. On real cold days and nights, the soldiers would wrap the group up with protective layer. While I dont know any details, it sounded like many wads/reams of plastic cling -type wrap around each cluster! Stay warm & hydrated!

Some good looking young horses and a couple of Handsome Stud Horses. A good crew there Jerry branding cattle. Are you going to keep all the Wagyu calves or sell them? Why do you guys brand the cattle on the shoulders and the back hindquarters?
@jheartquarterhorsesaz8 ай бұрын
Thanks, brand is put where it is applied for. That’s where are brand is put. Hindquarter is a number brand with year.
