It's a common practice in whisky- and brandy-making. In some expressions, especially the rarer ones, you'd find eau-de-vie of over 50 years old. another note,,,Jack even controls the raising of the corn that goes into the mash. I live about 40miles from Jack. Large farmer here is one of the many who raise corn for Jack. Managers from the distillery come here to monitor corn planting, to specify how wide apart rows should be, how many seeds per foot and as it grows, they come to monitor how much fertilizer is added and when. The fields here are irrigated and the application of water and when and how much is controled also. At harvest time, Jack comes to check field moisture to say when corn is harvested. They also tell farmers how to set combine screens and shakers and blowers so that they get the very best kernels and very little trash. Corn is stored on the farm until needed and Jack comes again from time to time to check on quality and moisture content and specify how much air drying is needed and when. Farmers get much more for their corn than they would if it was raised and sold as regular cow and chicken feed......Farmer here is hard core life long Baptist,,,,just so you would know the whole story...

What I love about Jack's is that the last sip tastes just as wonderful as the first. I've tasted Glenmorangie extremely rare 18yr old whiskey - the first sip was just pure sintillating magic but after a while the taste changed, possibly due to oxidization, I dunno. The magic was gone from the bottle. Having a whiskey that tastes the same throughout the course of a bottle - that's really something.

I was distressed by this video. Contrary to everything I've been raised to believe, it turns out that angels do NOT kiss every cork and seal every bottle before shipping Jack Daniel's out. It just seems that way. Oops! I forgot to say SPOILER ALERT. Sorry!
@modvind6 жыл бұрын
TheStockwell well, in the standard blacl label they don’t use cork but whatever
@modvind6 жыл бұрын
@@michaelcovey7007 that's not cork either, that's a block of wood

@@modvind I couldn't remember which it was, so I checked my bottle and it had a cork. But, that's because it was a bottle of that swank, pricey Sinatra Select. Black label No.7, as you pointed out, is not corked. 👏 Have a great, safe year - wherever you're having it. 🥃

All American whiskeys are required to be made in new charred oak barrels. They do make nice barrels though and after used for US whiskey they're sold to other countries to age their alcohol.

So I am just trying to find any and all products made completely made in America. Even though i don't drink, Jack Daniel's is completely made in Lynchburg, Tn. except for the barrels made in Kentucky. I live about 15 to 20 minutes from the distillery and can say this is one product made completely in the USA...for what it's worth.

Great endorsement, Sheila!
@iandyer15517 жыл бұрын
this is true, by legal requirement, for all bourbons and tennessee whiskeys. The barrels are american white oak, and most scotches also use the bourbon barrels for aging after the American distillers have used them.
