If this movie series ACTUALLY HAD a demon lord showing up, it would have made it vastly better. "... And because he is Native American and this is a horror movie, I'm assuming that means he's also magical or some shit." As person of the First Nations, yeah we get that stereotype in movies alot. Next to being tracker/hunter, exposition for historical origins, medicine man/shaman priest macguffin to solve or even being the cause of said curse. In my personal experience, I have no idea what is going on in paranormal situations, all I got is movies and a bit of para-psychology under my belt. And as the film goes, I find that Redbear is an old spirit making amends for cursing the land. Follow me here, back when the first euro settlers arrived, one of the gifts was given by tribes were corn to grow and harvest. Ofcourse civilization pushed the Tribe out of their ancestral land or worse genocide by disease or... Anyways, the settlers made a town on top of burial grounds causing a curse on the corn to turn bad. However like a haunted house when one spirit/curse has a door open other nasty things can get in. That's how small hauntings could turn to into a poltergeist if left unchecked, a rat-king of spirits. As said that curse invited a demon and Redbear had to do clean up before his soul can rest. I suppose his final acts to right the wrongs was the final sacrifice. Or I would like to say if there wasn't 5 other movies after this. LOL

I always thought that scene with the ghost was a person who has his soul set free, presumably because he did good and prevented evil from winning. I base this on the fact that no-one else's soul was seen in the film, so in my headcanon, that meant due to their violent deaths and the nature of the evil of He who walks behind the rows, that their souls were being 'absorbed' (or at the very least, prevented from passing on), either due to their proximity to the "cursed kids"/"cursed cornfields". Which still doesn't quite explain the ability to walk away (even in spirit form) from a cursed location (that still has its evil intact) in horror lore, but then again, considering the period the was was shot in, saying stories were "logical" would be a bit of a stretch, and it's not like this horror franchise even kept to its own consistency. :)

Technically all continents were once passable by land, and if you were to even ignore that, so you're kinda sitting on the combined cemeteries of the world if you are on land (since every continent is linked to each other via the inner core). Whether you can be haunted by any, depends on which franchise rules you want to follow - either having ghosts that are restricted by a single location, having a ghost latch onto a person where ever they go, getting "possessed by a ghost" or having a person summon a specific or any ghost to their location, or any combination thereof. :/

It's because it's the simplest plot ever. Kids turn evil, kill all the adults. This one is just gussied up with enough religious and Supernatural overtones the kind of give it a small Edge. Same thing with the Amityville Horror. Much of that franchise either doesn't include the actual house, or takes the evil and makes it mobile. Including a dollhouse, a clock, and I think a lamp or something. It's easy marketing too. If you see a movie called Children of the Corn, it doesn't matter what the subtitle is or the number. You know you're going to see a horror movie with a lot of kills, evil children, and some vaguely Supernatural elements

Back in the early noughties, my local video store had almost every entry of this series on their shelves - all except 2. I only got around to viewing this one towards the end of the decade. Knowing it was a direct sequel to the original, I had hopes it was gonna be at least as good as that one; no dice. The discontinuity in this series is appalling. There is some continuity between 1-3 & 6, but the rest ignore one another completely, with sequel hooks in one entry going ignored in the next. It wouldn't surprise me if most started life as standalone scripts before receiving slapdash rewrites to fit into this series.

I remember this one. As a kid, I thought this horror movie sequel was pretty good. And the idea that the kids actually went crazy over contaminated corn was quite interesting. But the implementation was a bit rough. (The whole thing should play directly after the first part. But obviously takes place 8 years later)

The kids were abused. It’s even mentioned in this one and 5. Micah’s misunderstood. Not sure about the other kids. But Micah’s dad abused him. At night when he visited all the kids, what he was saying about the adults, that wasn’t Micah talking that was He Who Walks Behind the Rows controlling him and what he says. Micah alone is shy and quiet. These kids are from Isaac’s group.

Not sure if anyone pointed this out already or if it even matters, lol but the opening credit music you comment on around 1:40 was changed for some reason in later releases. I have the original 1992 vhs copy of this film as it was a favorite of mine as a kid (I was weird) and the original opening music was much creepier and memorable. It had a haunting sinister theme with the voices of children singing something along the lines of "A time to live and a time to die, Seasons come and Seasons go, we are waiting " I noticed a few years back when I caught the movie on TV that the music was changed, (I'm going to guess copyright reasons? ) and I was disappointed. Sure, the movie is far from good but a few things were pretty effective. Also Micahs possession scene at 6:10 was shortened A LOT in later releases. On my vhs copy it goes on much longer and has some cgi of him floating through a portal with his face melting away as he becomes possessed by "he who walks behind the rows" it was actually pretty badass. I have no idea why they shortened it and just left the shitty lighting effect.
