I know exactly what this song is talking about. I was talking to this guy. We started out as friends and as we talked every day we started to get closer and I thought something was happening between us. Well he said he was coming to visit me next month for Valentine's day. Truly one of the greatest ever breakup songs. This is so gorgeous (so sad but lovely) for any person-on-person relationship / gender-generic & all-inclusive. Personally I love that it's from a homosexual standpoint as I had no role models or content like this being a gay teen in the 80's with hurt after hurt from boyfriends. I just can't say how much emotion this song evokes - positive and negative.
