The first 35 of these guns were basically built by hand. The later ones with a number of improvements were built on a CNC Mill. As to the nose dive it is likely the gas system. It may need adjusting. It has 3 different size holes in the piston. We usually tuned the gun to a specific ammunition. One of the later features uses the rear of the scope mount to lock the dust cover in place so it does not pinch anymore. The original inspiration for the Pauza P-50 was the Tokerev SVT-40 but also incorporated some thing from the PTRS.

At about the 14 minute mark, the bolt and the bolt carrier looks very similar to the SVT-40 system. Even down to the recoil spring being super aggressive when trying to take it out.

A mate of mine that was an amazing armourer (Nick D) at 42 commando back in the day went on to be an authority on weapons of the world for UK SF. Then moved on to be a UK wide authority. He rang me once to look at a Pauza P-50 and once thing I remember unique to the tool kit was a recoil rod/spring assembly tool. It was simple but genius in its effectiveness.

If Brandon hadn't told us about this he could have just changed the markings and a few other things and presented it as the new AK 50. You have to get or use one of the gen 12 shotguns Garand Thumb recently tested. It seemed pretty friggin awesome or Scott's full auto 458 socom.

I think I figured out something... If you've ever heard the stock 'Silenced gunshot' sound a lot of older movies and games used to use... The .50 sounds a lot like that slowed down. Examples would be Goldeneye64 and Command and Conquer.

Hey Brandon, I own a SVT-40 and it seems to work and assemble very similarly, the best way to get the bolt spring and dust cover on is to use a 7.62x54r round to hold the spring in place (ends up in the literal perfect position), have you tried a .50 cal round instead of the wood block? It might function similar.

KZbin was on point today with the difficult disassembly videos. I landed here after watching Forgotten Weapons vid on the CZ-100 where Ian filmed himself disassembling the slide on said pistol and the striker spring yeeted itself across the room. Does make you wonder why Brandon and crew made a wood block tool, and who the poor sap was that has a Pauza 50 recoil spring diameter hole in their hand.

Incredible info, I love movie gun data. I always thought the Robocop rifles were Barret .50's with plastic shrouds for filiming. Super cool, thanks! If you haven't you could make a fun video on movie guns about the Aliens M41A Pulse Rifle which was based on the Thompson, with a cut down Spaz cage and chopped down shotgun as a grenade laincher, they built 100% working guns for the movie hero guns.

They used M82 Barrets in the first movie as the Cobra Assault Cannons, no idea why they went with Pauza in the second movie, probably avaibility and looks. I remember 2nd Robocop movie having alot of obscure guns in it.

The muzzle brake being loose probably adds to the poor vibrational characteristics. Even at that speed slo mo it looks like cooked spaghetti every time Brandon fired, but I think at least some of it is the bipod mounts track system. Slower slo mo footage would be interesting.

Yeah, when I saw the thumbnail saying it was the Robocop gun, I was like, "Nooooo, that was a Barrett." Then he specified the sequel. I always thought the sequel gun was just a prop. It looks like a lazy propmaker designed the most basic thing he could get away with calling a "BFG."

Brandon... You can fix the 1st magazine by balancing the spring in the mag to a slightly forward bias. The second issue might be that you are not building up enough compression to thrust the charging handle all the way to the back. Maybe grab some of Scott's slap rounds. I hear they have more pressure built into them from the factory
