Thanks for watching guys! We’ve reprinted the Plastikov to give it another try, but we’re thinking of doing a complete breakdown. If you’d like to see us try other 3D printed guns/parts, let me know! (And to be 100% clear, this is not my design, just one we promised to test) EDIT: It’s also been brought to my attention that at 10:04 the gun fires out of battery. That is not good, and we’re trying to figure out how and why.

but yet, there's a reason kalashnikov rifles are the favoured weapons of insurgents damn near everywhere yes, there _are_ geopolitical reasons as well as concerns such as availability yes, reliability isn't the sole reason and yes, these rifles _do_ die on you eventually, as do any with enough wear and tear but as far as reliability and durability goes, most are the absolute gold standard and are perfectly capable of surviving (with minimal maintenance) through rough usage and environments where other rifles would need frequent and thorough cleaning but then again, you're welcome to have your own opinion. at the end of the day it's all a matter of preference, but if the general consensus of those who use and, in some cases, need to depend on these rifles is correct (which it _usually_ is) then the ak is an objectively more reliable rifle
@innacrisis69914 жыл бұрын
or no, i might take that back. it appears you're correct, and i'd been mistaken, while the kalashnikov pattern of rifles are rugged and reliable, that says nothing for their capability in adverse conditions such as thick mud or similar, and yes an AR will outperform one in that respect.

The receiver should be designed to accept metal bushings. The bushings could be lubed or replaced when needed and it would prevent the metal pins from wearing directly against the plastic. Also, when you called it a convertible I almost fuckin died. Great video.

the issue wasnt going metric, it was doing poor math. Metric can go as small as you want it to go. We build electronic chips on nanometer scale and even that isnt the smallest the metric system can go.

Metric is all well and good, until as stated in the video, you try to make it metric around parts that are imperial. The same would happen if it were imperial wrapping metric parts. The issue wasn't some problem with metric itself, but bad tolerances due to improper use.

@jt__pate4 жыл бұрын
FishTaco Supreme making a receiver out of a shovel would be easier than the plastikov was to construct. In any case, build the gun now on an 80p instead of waiting until you need it to get it, or you end up with a situation like the gun rush caused by covid
@iphoneawesome1234 жыл бұрын
What are they gonna do, ban sheet metal? You just print out a paper drill jig and fold. I still wanna see this work it's just too many things failed at once. Knowing what the failures were I feel like I could make a reliable plastikov. If only I trust my 3dprinter to print for more than half an hour before failing and getting filament everywhere. Until then I'll make as many 80%kits as I see fit since they're still available.

Joshua Pate we’re not all in the states........ if you guys can get this as far as possible it will mostly benefit people outside the states.
@jonasstrzyz24694 жыл бұрын
Well, if 80% receiver are become legally considered firearms, chances are that barrels, bolts and pressure bearing components will legally be considered firearms. In that case you need to start out with making your barrel, bolt etc.
@jt__pate4 жыл бұрын
Lars Pool most places outside the US consider the barrel, trunnion, and other parts firearm parts as well, if you can’t get ahold of those parts in the first place then this doesn’t help, but like I said, a shovel build would most likely be easier to do, easier to souce, cheaper, and more reliable. This is not the ideal solution for people outside the states, the FGC9, printed glocks, and others are far better options and much more realistic
