10:20 I remember a 4Chan post about this. Someone posted a picture of the US with the caption "How to invade it?" The response was fucking legendary... It read as follows (this is off of memory): "You don't. You will reach mountains not long after either coast. Imagine getting into protracted warfare with snake-handling Appalachian hillbillies. The last thing you will hear is the sound of a banjo twanging through the trees before someone domes you with their great grandfather's depression-era squirrel rifle. It would make the Russian-Chechen conflict look like a fucking joke."
@worksv32 жыл бұрын
That’s assuming they get that far. Any hypothetical invader will have to get past the Navy (which is capable of power projection on every ocean and every continental coast), the Air Force (can commence bombing anywhere on earth inside 15 minutes), early warning air systems, long-range missiles, etc. Assuming the invasion force survives the sheer roflstomp that occurs within the first few hours and reaches the coasts they then have to set up long-term supply and logistics chains spanning entire oceans, which neither Russia, China, or their affiliates have the power to do. Then as Anon said, geography and the good ol’ boys will do the rest. There’s more guns than people in the US and a lot of them pray to reenact Red Dawn IRL on the regular.

I've spent time in different areas of the south, and having grown up in the Appalachian mountains, I can attest to the fact that if shit ever goes sideways and the south becomes no man's land, odds are nobody will ever formally reinstate the Appalachians into any union. In terms of all the stereotypical things that make southern folks formidable (can't starve us out, can't make us run, etc) the Appalachians are to Texas as Texas is to California. The only reason they aren't louder about it is because in their culture they've already quietly excused themselves from any obligation to participate in the rest of the country's bullshit.

In all fairness, that might be because the US military doesn't really have any issues with their performance, while issues with (sexual) assault and bullying are far more common. Putting some effort to combat that seems like a pretty good idea, especially when you've got the perfect example of what happens when you let such things go rampant. Russia has been tackling this issue in the last few years, but hazing, bullying and assault are still major issues in their army.

Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. 6:28 "In Matabele" likely refers to the Matabeleland wars between the late Cecil Rhodes' column and the Matabele people who inhabited the area of Africa that became Rhodesia and then later Zimbabwe as it is known in modern day. The maxim gun was used to great affect against the Matabele people who greatly outnumbered the Rhodesian column. I believe it was said that the Matabele warriors would run 50 miles to the battlefield before utterly fearlessly charging into battle damn near naked with nothing but their melee weapons against repeating rifles and field guns, but when they heard the maxim guns even some of the bravest warriors would simply turn around and walk away... An offensive fact: back in the 70s, Kalashnikov had a strong competitor - Koksharov, who made the AEK-971, an assault rifle that surpassed the AK-74. Unfortunately, it was more difficult to manufacture, in addition, according to rumors, the officials did not want to change the already familiar weapon for something new, so the confrontation dragged on for years. When the AK-12 was being tested, it lost. Koksharov's fans had hope.... But suddenly someone decided that the AK-12 was entitled to a second chance. As a result, both AK-12 assault rifles and modified versions of AEK under the indices A-545 and A-762 were adopted.
