Brandon next time remove the spark plug and pack the rope inside the cylinder to hold the flywheel. I tried a charging system on a 15 hp Johnson but unless I was at high speed it really didn't do much charging. Better on a 20hp or greater. Always fun to watch you work. thanks for sharing

Oh no, even on a 20 HP it's almost useless.

Just make sure that piston is coming back up and PASSED THE INTAKE/EXHAUST PORTS before cramming that rope in. Getting rope pinched in a port against the piston is hellish to remove !

Hello sir was wondering if this can be done to bigger engine and be able to hook up this easy with holes already being in the top to install this charging station? Thanks for your time! It would be going on Johnson 55hp Greatly appreciate any information and I've just always recharged my battery like old-school way 😂 but watch ton of your videos and like how detailed you are and how knowledgeable of what you work on! Thanks again for all your time and hard work and efforts into these videos and everything you do Sir!! Much appreciated 💯👍💪😁

Fun project and as always with Brandon, clearly explained ! But if I may, that locating ring is much more than a time saving tool as it precisely sets the flywheel's gap with all ignition components.

Wait, what is the project boat it’s going on?

You would have to run that all day to benefit from a 4 amp stator (and that 4 amps is a generous number) check out leroy’s ramblings! Evinrude marketed a charging stator in small displacement engines as a novelty in my opinion! They’re absolutely useless and a power drain !
