I did one on my RAV4 works very well, I used Tesa Tape & split loom conduit to protect the wires from heat & sharp edges.. My front one switches on when I am parking or reversing, as soon as I put car from reverse to drive it comes on for 10 seconds or there is an app that you use to have it on full time.

The camera has constant power as long as the radio is on. Once the radio is off the camera doesn’t have power. But you can pull up the camera while driving.

Good video man, nice oem clean look too. I personally would've left the connection closer to the emblem on the front just case if you ever needed to take the bumber off you could disconnect the camera much easier. Would also need to get a connector for that acc cable too but they sell those at like autozone/advanced too.

The red wire gets connected to wire red wire that goes behind the radio. And the black wire gets grounded out to a bolt in the engine bay, or the negative terminal on the battery. I try to explain it at around 3:00 in the video! But I hope this helps!

This is really excellent. One question. You show a red lead comiming out of the video plug to supply the power to the camera?. Are you using the centre core of the video lead to carry the positive or is it a three core cable. Common earth acting as screen, video line and positive like. I am very interested in this as i cant see over the front wings to see the wheel arches of my Renault captur. I hate the design of SUV. Their all round vis is terrible. My neck hurts. I appreciate you watching! As for adding an external switch. You would need to interpret the power wire going to the radio from the camera, and splice a switch into it, and once the radio receives the power from the camera it will turn on the screen.

Hey Brandon: I installed a similar camera on my 2008 Toyota Matrix. The back of the camera actually unscrews. The difference with 1st generation matrix is the grill is attached to the hood. I grabbed a 4 pin camera cable extension off amazon. Doing this allowed me to keep the power and video connection inside the cabin and all the connections stay at the back of the radio, and I only had to work on feeding the small cable to the camera. I did this install about 2019. The camera lense has since fogged up and the image is not all that clear now. When it was new the the image was pretty darn good. I have been looking for another camera that has a steeper angle that would show some of the front bumper.

I tried to unscrew it or pull it off, but I felt that I was going to break it. So I just left it alone. And I hope mine doesn’t start to fog up, but only time will tell. But a steeper angle would be much better, but there isn’t many cameras out there that will specifically fit in a Toyota emblem.

It's been a while but I just actually remembered its the front screws off..... that will allow you to address the horizontal issue your have as well ..... It really sucks that they don't come with any instructions. When they are that cheap I buy two sometimes

If you connect directly to the battery this will keep the camera on all the time. You will need to add a relay or connect to a fuse that only turns on when the car is on.

In my foglight video, I made a while ago. I give a little bit better tutorial on how I ran the wire. But there is going to be a rubber grommet in the back of the engine bay, and it will make it easier if you take a knife and cut a slit in the grommet. Is there a way to install digital climate controls? I’m trying to install remote start to mine and everything. Also you know the reason why this car died could’ve been the electrical current from the lightning bolt hitting the cameras and the wires and fried the battery

I have looked into swapping over to the digital climate, and there is many things that need to change, and it would cost a lot in parts. So it’s not easy to swap over. But I don’t think the camera had much to do with the car dying from the lightning. Because many other things were messed up that didn’t even go to the camera.

I believe you are talking about the steering wheel. If you already have steering wheel controls, there is a setting called SWC and that allows you to set each one. If you do not have them, you will have to upgrade your steering wheel with a new one with the buttons.

The reverse cam should only be hooked up to the reverse wire. If you hooked up the front camera to the same wire. The front camera will only work in reverse. And you don’t want that. So I would recommend you hook them up to 2 different sources.
