I think Brandy is so humble that she can sometimes come across as timid or even insecure. But I DON'T feel like she's insecure because her actions show otherwise. She's a fighter, she stands up for herself. She fought for her song rights, she dumped Wanya for cheating, she checked Monica when Monica said Whitney was her godmother, she even sang a remix to "Talk About Our Love" on the BET award show where she changed her verse to be about Monica and Monica's fans (which I am a fan of both)... but Brandy don't play either. I could be reaching but.... here’s my take. I think Brandy is genuinely a fan of Monica. I think that she respects her and her talent. If she wasn’t she wouldn’t have asked her to be on her song. She gave Monica a lot of love and real compliments last night. I think Monica’s issue with Brandy lies with Brandy being “chosen”. What I mean is...Monica mentioned not being picked for the waiting to exhale soundtrack. Brandy was picked for that. Handpicked in fact. Granted, they both had their own relationship with Whitney. I know the fans wanted this immediately, but I think if they’d spoken privately a few months in advance (which likely would’ve led to more conversations in private) then came together publicly for the VS battle, the chemistry would’ve been a little warmer. You can’t expect 2 people that haven’t spoken in 8 years with the history they have to reconnect with hearts and flowers on Day 1. Doing it publicly added additional pressure... I think they were both a little uncomfortable. I enjoyed this though, and I’m hoping they continue rebuilding their relationship for more collaboration in the future! ☺️

Two women from different backgrounds having two different careers at the same time, battling different issues, different needs from their teams, and became different women in their own rights. I Was the Brandy to my best friend from childhood; she was my Monica. Love never stopped, but our dynamic changed as we grew. When I saw her in person the first time in 12 years(I'm 38 and she's 36), I was extra, jokey, but affectionate, and sincere. She was poised, protective, but loving and genuine. And we're rough and raw in our own ways. People who stayed in contact with both of us knew we'd pick up our rhythm with a few solid conversations, but that first encounter was exactly how it should've been and what we needed. I'm loved the outcome because I lived something similar... And they were the soundtrack 💞💖💞

The song was ALWAYS a duet, never a feature. If it wasn't a duet it would have never been on Monica's album. It's always been listed as a DUET, hence it being on both their albums. The video, marketing, tracklisting on the both albums have always said Brandy & Monica, never Brandy feat. Monica. If later on Brandy wanted to pull rank and get it removed from Monica's album YEARS after the fact that speaks more about her character than anyone else's. It's really no purpose for it considering she'll make money whether it's streamed from her album or Monica's. It was silly for her to do it. That shows you what type of backhanded person she really is. Monica has always been an upfront and honesty person. Brandy throws rocks and hides her hands.
