It’s a damn shame her album didn’t continue to push this album or wait until after she had the baby. Full Moon would’ve murdered the charts in 2002/2003, hell even 2004. The soul rock electro sound she had was so unique and original, and really only Aaliyah had a similar album in regards to an R&B artist at the time

“I Thought” is one of my favorite Brandy tracks ever following “Love Wouldn’t Count Me Out”. It reminds me so much of Whitney when I hear it. It’s got bounce and groove but it’s so aggressive and sassy too.

I have officially finished watching the whole video. Now that you've listened to the complete album, I'm sure you can understand why this album and Brandy herself is considered the Vocal Bible to singers😆 I love this album and Never Say Never so much that I just recently got the vinyl versions for a pretty good price. Thanks so much for doing this review! As a younger Brandy fan, I can tell you that you're going to be reigniting or igniting people's love for Brandy's music and her voice. She's such a cultural icon and has forever left her imprint on R&B music and music in general. Just thinking about all the artists that she's influenced is crazy. I think she's only recently begun to understand how much she's appreciated by fans and the industry. Her album Afrodisiac was great too. That's her most critically acclaimed one but personally my 3rd favorite after Full Moon and Never Say Never. My favorite songs from that one are: - "Talk About Our Love" ft. Kanye West (there's a music video for this one) - "Where You Wanna Be" -"Who Is She 2 U" (video for this one too!)
@AnActorReacts4 жыл бұрын
I for sure understand what you mean! As I listen to more of her music I do hear the influence she has had on other artists. There's something really special about her voice and ALL OF THE ways she uses it. ... Oh and I actually know 'Talk About Our Love' & 'Who Is She 2 U'! Haven't heard them in a while tho.

@greatsweetnice4 жыл бұрын
It was LaShawn Daniels on the background of “When You Touch Me,” and it IS Brandy on the “I never do anything that pleases you,” part of “Anything.” lol I’ve always loved how her voice almost sounded like a sample on that part. It’s my favorite song on the album. The song is just stupid. You’ll see, when you run it back in the headphones. :)
@AnActorReacts4 жыл бұрын
Oh okay! So that's him with the like "computer love" effect on his voice? And yeah it does sound like a sample but I love that it just another way she can change up her voice.
@greatsweetnice4 жыл бұрын
An Actor Reacts It was LaShawn on all the male vocals on the song. He kind of went back and forth with her, but her voice was on the leads, he’d kind of answer her in the background. You’ll see what I mean.when you listen back. :)

jeffrey walters I know what happened, I think LaShawn was on “Like This.” I got the songs mixed up. You could be right, though, but I know for sure a Michael Jackson sample was use on the “It’s Not Worth it” backgrounds.

Thanks for reacting to this! I actually didn't love this album at first but now consider it a masterpiece and my 2nd favorite Brandy project. Even though I was a huge fan of her voice on Never Say Never, I fell in love with it on this album. My top five is the same except I would substitute "I Thought" and "Love Wouldn't Count Me Out" for "He Is" and "Like This". Excited for Afrodisiac-it's her Timbaland project and a good one!
@AnActorReacts4 жыл бұрын
I get that. Like I said it's not the most digestible album on first listen especially depending on how young you were when it came out. But it's for sure a master piece ESPECIALLY THE VOCALS! Afrodisiac coming ... soon-ish!

Again, love these reviews! This is def my fav Bran album, but like you, I had to live with it for a while to fully appreciate it. Felt like she recorded this on Venus. Lol The layering. The way her voice is never left just floating; there’s another vocal feat to catch the one before it. The lushness and plushness of her vocals. The crescendos. The DC futuristic production. She gives you a full plate every time you press play on a track. Favs: When You Touch Me, Anybody, & It’s Not Worth It.

I'm so happy that you finally got to hear it. This album is so special. And to think that I didn't like it when I first heard it (I was 13). I didn't really get into it again until after "Afrodisiac" came out and then I fell in love. NSN, FM and AFRO are my top 3 albums by her. Back to back to back masterpieces. "Love Wouldn't Count Me Out" is my favorite Brandy song. I think my other 2 faves are "When You Touch Me" and maybe "All In Me" or "Anybody". They really took their time with this project. "Die Without You" is a remake. The original by PM Dawn and it's on the 1992 "Boomerang" soundtrack.

Haha I love that! 6LACK (pronounced Black) is my favorite artist. If you wanna check him out I'd recommend some of my favorites: 'In Between (ft. BANKS)', 'Disconnect' & 'Learn Ya'. A lot of artists feature him in their music too one of my favorites is 'Waves' by Normani (ft. 6LACK). He's like a R&B/Hip Hop cross over. But he's categorized as R&B cuz he's very melodic and I guess cuz his songs are usually about relationships.

See. We told you that Full Moon would top Never Say Never! lol The thing that's so great about Full Moon is that she sings nearly all the songs in the higher end of her range. She often says she loves Never Say Never more just because it's easier to sing. But her ability to use more of her range and the way she stacked her backgrounds on this album is what turned her from a star into a vocal legend. Fun fact: Rolling Stone panned the album. LOL. A mess.
@tlewisisdope4 жыл бұрын
That switch up on "All in Me" is a riff on two step garage, a Black British sound popularized in the US at the time with the brief success of Craig David. Apart is my favorite song on this album and def in my top 5 Brandy songs of all time. I love how her voice breaks at the end, but the whole way through you can hear in the vocal treatment how she's really exploring what sounding broken would sound like. And yes all the vocals are her. She's at the tippy top of her range on this one
