Gilchrist, Oregon. No stoplights. One school, k-12. Average graduating class is about 25. Gotta drive up the highway to the next town just to go to the grocery store. No strangers. Just a little market, post office, a couple little shops and of course... the mill. Little slice of heaven in the woods.

When i was younger, growing up in small town MA, i hated it. I didnt understand the values and pride that come with it. being a little older now, I love where im from, and man Im damn happy im not from the city. Its great to know all the officers, and to know most everyone. Proud to be from a small town, and God bless all the good old boys.

Hey, brother. It doesn't matter where you're from, 'cause country's a way of life. My best friend used to be the biggest city boy ever, and now he gets sick if he doesn't get a deer when huntin' season's open. All I had in my hometown were two stoplights (one of which got built a few years ago, yay!), a denim mill, school, a grocery store, and a shack that sold biscuits. As long as you're good to people, that's all it really takes.

No stoplights, one building housed K-12 until about 13 years ago. Now we have K-8 and 9-12. Two restaurants, one gas station and a Dollar General. We're 15 minutes from the nearest actual grocery store and 20 from the nearest mall. I graduated in a class of 48. The current population is less than 800 and the nearest town has more cows than people. This is home, no matter where I roam.

I live in a town where everybody knows everybody. We drop the tailgates down by the river on a sandbar every weekend and have ourselves a damn good time. Everyone's a friend around here and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm proud of this place. It's country at its best.

My hometown has two stoplights, 1 grocery store and I graduated with the biggest class ever - 50. I miss knowing everyone I saw, them knowing me. Hated it as a child trying to grow, miss it desperately as an adult longing for familiarity in a world grown too big.

It's songs like this that make me realise that I only have one childhood, and it's basically over at 16 years old... I wish I could've stayed in Texas, wear I was born, but moving around makes it hard to stay attached to one town. I wish more than anything I could've had a true country small-town childhood experience, but those days are gone and now I just have to look for new adventures to come my way, and hope I left good things in the people I've met in all my past adventures. :)

@GoldenPig2012 We were 12 in our graduating class. We also have two stoplights and one grocery store. More than half the restaurants take cash only, and thats fine by us. We spend our money on gas and food. The bartender at ''the beaver'' knows you, and you know him. You dont go to the bar to act like a fool, you go to have a good time. We have one police car that patrols at night, and 2 during the day. We know every police officer in town. Its a great place to be, whats left of this small town.

our small town had it all two stores, bank, agway, gas, school of 300 kids and its all gone just a blinking light and all happened in 20yrs. south western ny will be a playground for the rich and famous. they come for weekends and holidays and try to be us.. but leave to there fancy lives and leave us with empty schools and towns and inflated land prices and they will get our farm someday but only on my last breath my kids will face hard decisions as a 4th gen farm is worth more dead than alive.

its sad how when you were in middle school you couldnt wait to get to high school and graduate. Now 16 and a junior all i hear people talking about is college. All of ur friends talking about staying in there home town going to college. Then they ask u if your going to stay and u tell them there is no college that offers what I want so I going across the state to Tennessee. U realize this is going to be it and your last summer together. So chereish every moment cuz itll be gone before u know it.

The facts of it is that most people don’t like this kind of country, which is why this was an independent album and didn’t get any attention. He was really just a songwriter then. He can continue to make this music but he would be broke, it is what it is. I’m from his town, we love Brantley here, but it’s a difference in millions and millions of dollars. It’s what country is coming to, it sucks but it’s just how it is

the sad thing is the small towns in the south down here can never be heard of yet have been one of the countrys strongest in war or in crop growing . both relate to most places other than Fort Smith, Little Rock, Arkadelphia and 1 or 2 others. Gotta love East End Poyen and Perla. Perla and Malvern are called brick city due to ACME Brick being right there.

If you think I am lying, I really do not care. Plus, calling someone out on how many people were in their graduating class seems petty, but if that's how you like to act then so be it.
