Welcome to the third episode of Branwen's Big Year 2024 vlog!
Throughout the year Branwen is on a mission to see as many bird species as possible in the UK, and there'll be a new vlog episode each month to document the adventure.
During this March edition, Branwen, Suzanne and Winston visit Aberporth on the west coast Wales, exploring the Ceredigion coast path for heathland birds. Later in the month they nipped back to Cilgerran Wildlife Centre aka Teifi Marshes on the hunt for a rumoured jack snipe, and then headed to Cors Caron nature reserve near Tregaron. What will be the running total of species after the third month? Watch and find out!

Lovely scenery and a nice selection of birds. Treecreeper and bullfinch always a joy to encounter. And what a dark red fox! It makes my birding day to have add a few mammals, the fox being a great favourite of mine. Your year total is going well and so much beautiful footage of those that you get to see!

Excellent Branwen. Superb jack snipe, very handsome little chap. I'd count a rock dove - right habitat, definitely as at least two looked 'plumage-right'. Great edit, looking forward to more expeditions through April :)

Thank you as always Simon! Yes I'd been wondering about the rock dove situation. The Ceredigion coast is definitely in the right habitat, and as you say, plumage-wise a couple were spot on. I've added them in on BirdTrack for that day, so next video the end total will be one extra :) Pretty sure we'll see some on Skye later in the year in one of our usual spots, just for 100% confirmation!!
