for those wondering, it took Erno Rubin (the creator of the Rubik’s cube) over a month to solve it for the first time. most people who try to solve the cube intuitively either fail, or also take months to do so. the puzzle isnt one meant to test logical thinking, but instead to test your ability to memorize algorithms and execute them as quickly as possible. a sub 19 second solve is something even some pro cubers rarely get, so for a 6 year old, it’s as likely as a joe video not being an absolute banger. edit: tldr: solving a Rubik’s cube has nothing to do with IQ

i think the reason gifted kids tend to not do so great is because at a young age they just get things, so they dont put any effort in to learn more because they already know whats going on in school. Eventually they get to a point in school where not paying attention is going to screw them over, school caught up with their brain. The habit of not putting work in is hard to change, and they just struggle to actually put in effort, and then just quit.

As someone who used to b seen as a "gifted child," ur completely right. I skipped a math grade and was offered to be in AP classes, but my parents didn't want to put me in harder classes for just in case purposes.After that, I just stopped trying. I had exceptional test scores but didn't do class work or homework. My school even thought i cheated on the regents exam due to the extreme difference between my class grades and my test scores. In my senior year, i ended up trapped in a toxic relationship, my mom got cancer, and I fell into deep depression. I was sought after by a college due to my regents scores, but never applied. I ended up not going to college and started to look after my mom. I didn't even get a job till a year after graduation. Luckily, I took a trade class in high school and got a career. I'm lucky for that because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have known how to save my mom when she had her stroke. Even after all that, I feel empty, as if my life has little importance and that life kinda gotten in the way of my potential. I wanted to be a doctor and still do.
@osamabinladen101 thanks I'm doing better since then. I have a loving husband n a house. I still feel like I could've been more, but I'd b perfectly happy with starting a loving family.
@deziiluv Жыл бұрын
@EvilBoyJugg why should I? People go through similar hardships all the time n just because I feel empty academic wise, doesn't mean I'd never b happy. Because of everything that happened, I met my wonderful husband, and now i am married, have a house, and am planning on starting a family. Happiness could stem from other places. Just because I didn't have the opportunity to further my education, that doesn't mean that I'd never b successful. There's other ways to gain success n feel fulfilled.

As a person considered extremely smart, I had too many expectations. The weight was always pushed on me. From K-7 I was expected to always get all A’s. Until I reached Algebra 1 in the 8th grade. Algebra for me isn’t hard. But my teacher was the problem. She was extremely tough. She wasn’t mean, but she had so many assignments stacked on each other. I had to do homework that has 30 questions, but wait, I also needed to do ten online lessons, wait I also forgot I need to finish bell work that I couldn’t in class! It was hard to keep up with it. It’s the only class I EVER got a C in. That sounds stupid right? “A C is passing?” But for my parents it was an F. Until her class. I’m so mad I have her, but she is good for school to get to college, but also to reduce the high expectations of my parents.
