Wow, this episode got really dark. I miss these kinds of kids shows were they had both light-hearted and dark moments.

This was made from Japan, they do kid's shows there differently.

It’s somewhat common place on Japanese tv, heck it’s seen even in Pokémon where there’s a whole episode dedicated to an old Pokémon succumbing to old age

I think McCrane attacked because he had no choice, but he's still got a heart of a pacifist Also, I know that there's one episode where people go on about it being kiss players and being very angry and fed up with it, but come on! LET IT GO, GUYS! I enjoyed it! No intentions for spoilers, just giving you a heads up

At the keys thing about the Soul killer in the cyberpunk setting is that something that is inherently evil. Think darkseid's power known as the Omega Sanctum where he basically tortures someone by giving them progressively crappier and crappier hands in life within the simulations. What Johnny silverhand was put into was known as The Relic program which is something a bit different but is derived from the soul killer program.
