1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500

1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 (owned since 2006).
Up until recent times I had a personal collection of vehicles (6) that I had collected over the years. These were vehicle I either grow up with a poster on the wall or simply just fell in love with them due to their motor racing heritage. Some of the vehicles I had owned for almost 20yrs, all except one were purchased by me here in Japan and I had in fact exported some of them to Australia to place in storage with the golden plan of one day retiring there. Some of the vehicles I had to own here in Japan for a period of time before I would be granted import approval by the Australian government, because of this some are rare to be seen in Australia. Five years ago I decided that I would start selling them off until I was left with one, don’t ask me why, sometimes you need a change in direction and due to my workload I very rarely got the spare time to really enjoy them even when I was in Australia for holidays (week break here and there). It had taken me about three years to sell five of them, not due to price but more the fact I really did not put much effort in trying, most were sold by word of mouth. I kept my favourite two until last and really could not decide which one to keep (still have it today) and I simply decided it via a flip of a coin. Do I regret selling them and the answer is yes and no, yes I miss them a lot and no I do not miss the flat batteries, insurance/rego, up keep and most importantly keeping them in showroom condition.
This was the 5th vehicle to sell from my personal collection.

That is one tidy motor!😎 This is the car I lusted after as a kid in the '80s. Love the mods too, they really add something to the standard car. I had a Mongoose on my S2 Escort RS turbo. They are so iconic with the bonnet vents, boot spoiler and wheel arch extensions. My favourite touring car livery were the Dick Johnson, Shell sponsored cars. We use to get coverage of the Australian Touring Car Championship on the BBC in the UK.

Wow! Used to have one of these on my estate as a kid, the owner was a Ford fanatic through and through (his next car was an Escort Cosworth!) I live in Essex, near Boreham where so many of these got test driven before launch (along with the Escort Cossie and RS200, I even had the pleasure of seeing a RS200 driving in Witham!) So as a Essex Boy Cosworths (pretty much all sporty Ford's) are in my blood and seeing one in this condition and after all this time is crazy.

Beautiful car and always been my ultimate dream car . Watching the video i'm looking for anything i might spot that might have been changed . Not for any reason other than testing my own knowledge on my dream car . the only thing i spotted that is not RS500 is at 10:52 the car displayed is an XR4i showing the pillars rather than the Cosworth single rear windows . I only noticed because i know how hard i have looked for one myself ;) Amazing to hear the journey this UK RS500 has taken over the years . I know in Australia you have many Fords that us in the UK also have and i know you raced RS500s . Did Australia actually get any road going RS500s or was it only in the UK ? Thanks for sharing this video of such a beautiful example ;)

I think it was a wise decision you made to reduce your collection to one vehicle, in my opinion the arse is going to fall out of the "investment" cars shortly. Some will have finances to prop up a very expensive buy and others will be left with a £90k " barn find" .
