The reaction was great, problem is there wasn't enough of it. You took your time the 1st half and it was near perfect and totally chop the sheet out of the 2nd half. Should have made a 2 parter.

That was my first thought, until I realized she simply removed every side character, Prince Edward, Steven, Hamish's father even Longshanks, and above all Robert the Bruce and his father... most important things, not much left of the movie...
A war steed is a dangerous thing on the battlefield. trined to ignore the panic caused by the ruckus of battle and the smell of smoke, they will bite and kick at anything they do not recognize, in this case, any soldier not wearing a uniform like the one it was around when it got trained. A steed biting at your face with intent, or kicking you in the middle of combat is almost a guaranteed death sentence, hence, the focus on downing the horses

Also the scene at the beginning, where she presents him with a thistle. Scotland's emblem is a thistle, that has a double meaning :)

As a history nerd, this movie offends me. You mentioned the difference between the English and the Scottish, when in reality , they were very similarly armed and armored. Kilts were not a thing for another 300 years, the blue paint was fro mthe time of Ancient Rome. But as an action movie, it's fantastic. Also, "babe number 2" in real life was 9 years old.

@gwildordipkin6504 dont think you can attach explosives to broadheads either. But no, as an actiony type of movie, I like this. But as the historical drama they tried to sell it as (as they tried again with We Were Soldiers, and did far more right in that movie that both sides of me are a fan). I can appreciate a movie for a movie, silly.

This is an incredible example of what like to call historic fiction. The names were real, many of the battles were even real. No, it isn't fully accurate. Thus, it is fiction. A great movie, well made all ways you look at it.

Among other falsehoods, the concept of Prima Nocta has no actual historical evidence of having ever been enacted at any period of time. It is possible certain lords took advantage of their peasantry like that, but it would be a stretch beyond capacity of belief to claim it had the consent of the royalty itself.
@ryanodonovan9497 Жыл бұрын
@@DaemonKeido And it doesn't even serve any purpose to the story other than to make the English look more villainous than necessary.

Hanged, drawn and quartered was often even way more brutal than depicted here. The drawn part included your innards being drawn out of your body and getting grilled while still intact with you.

Beautiful scenery with historical figures, just not set in their proper timelines. John Baliol WAS the king of Scotland but the council of Scottish Lords turned on him which prompted King Edward to invade Scotland. Queen Isabella never met William Wallace, he had died 3 years before she even came to England and didn't marry Edward II until after Wallace' death. Just FYI, Wallace never murdered any King. The guy in the movie whose throat he slit was the local magistrate and the guy that the husband killed was the local lord.

Braveheart is one of the greatest Hollywood epics ever made. Its arguably the greatest medieval movie I've ever seen. It features one of the greatest, most powerful wartime speeches ever put on camera. Braveheart also features one of the greatest, most heartwrenching soundtracks ever composed

William Wallace was killed/executed in 1305.... Isabella of France was only 10 years old at the time. One of the most historically inaccurate films of all time!

I LOVE this movie and for being a 3 hour movie, it sure flies by!!! It's a historical mess (plenty of videos out there tearing the movie apart) but like Wallace and the Queen never hook up for starters and Scottish weren't wearing kilts into battle among other things. Great movie though. I don't know if you've reacted to it but another great movie with Mel Gibson is "The Patriot" about the American Revolution. Great reaction video.

As I like to say from time to time, the movie may not be 100% accurate to our reality, but it is accurate to the reality in which the film is a a part of.

I cant stand the amount of nuts that troll these comment sections just to point out how inaccurate Braveheart is. Why does the historical inaccuracies in Braveheart matter more than any other overly dramatized historical drama??? I mean, its Hollywood. I guarantee you that Lawrence of Arabia and Schindler's List arent 100% accurate
@beckybarnes4651 Жыл бұрын
It's English people overly pissed off at the fact a major Hollywood movie shows them as cunts compared to the Scots.
@ryanodonovan9497 Жыл бұрын
We all know that history-based films and dramas aren't 100% accurate. There are even examples of doing things differently to come off as more compelling, or to avoid things that would be too obscene, boring or whatever else for viewers. But Braveheart doesn't do that. It sacrifices historical accuracy and authenticity to a point of absurdity. It also insults viewers by making everything so morally one-sided between the Scots and the English, to the point of coming up with the false jus primae noctis custom which was never a thing in Medieval Europe, and serves nothing to the story other than to make the English more villainous than necessary. I'm not going to go into everything else, since there's a lot to cover, and Cynical Reviews' and History Buffs' videos on the film already explained it well enough. All I'll say is that if you're going to make a film that's supposed to reflect history, do it. If you want to make something up that's inspired by history, do that. The latter's what Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World did, and it ended up being more historically accurate than the film that was supposed to be based on actual history! Also, for your information, it's not trolling or being nuts to point out facts.

When you watch Lord of the Rings, don't get bullied into the extended versions by the loud minority of Lord of the Rings nerds. Theatrical is much better for a first time viewing. Extended muddles the plot and ruins the pacing.
