Bravely Default - 999999 Damage Sent Move

Little how-to on sending a 999999 move that actually packs a punch.
The set-up:
Edea (highest P.Atk, by whatever slight amount)
Freelancer with all Jobs Maxed
Sword Magic secondary
Natural Talent
Critical Amp
Sword Magic Amp
Knuckle Lore
No equipment (so Natural Talent gets activated)
Thunderburst Special
50% Power
Anti whatever you fight, Dragon for me
Some element you want to deal, Water for me
Buffs:
100% Haste (Quick x2)
100% P.Atk (50% from level 3 Spear Special and 50% from common means, I chose Singing)
1900% Crit (900% Level 2 Katana Special, 1000% from common means as Pay to Play)
All elemental Amp's (Fairy's Aid)
Element Sword Magic to supplement weaknesses
Full Leverage
Basically, what you want to set up is an enemy with three elemental weaknesses and deal those with your Special. I chose Lightning (Thunderburst innate), Dark (Sword magic) and Water (add-on for Special). Also, you want to hit the Family weakness here.
All in all, you get a ton of Multipliers this way:
1.5 for each Elemental Amp (so 1.5*1.5*1.5 with three Amps)
1.25 for each weakness (which is three as well)
2.5 from Critical Amp
1.25 from Sword Magic Amp
2 from Full Leverage
for a total multiplier of 1.5*1.5*1.5*1.25*1.25*1.25*2.5*1.25*2 = 41.19873046875 times the damage of the Crit that is done. And with over 1300 P.Atk, that Crit is huge by itself already.

You would think. All of those multipliers don't apply for the receiver, or at very least some of them don't. I recently used an ability that got sent to me that was listed as doing over 200k damage. When I used it, it did about 7k damage.

They do, but the enemy's defense still factors in. So if you used a magic attack on Chaugmar, for example, while his shield is still up, all that damage will be reduced to one.

Smileyhat More or less correct. The attack multipliers mostly apply, but you have to make sure that the enemy you use the summon attack against has the same elemental weakness as the one originally used, and the same applies to monster family weakness as well. Elemental Buff from Fairy's Aid and P.Atk Buffs etc all still apply. Full Leverage does not get carried over to your side as well. And, of course, the enemies defense plays a role. The basic though about sending and receiving an attack is that the attack is done again. The number is just how much the original caster did, not how much it will do for you.

Quirinus It basically re-rolls that attack against whatever you're fighting against. Seems more important to just get the 200% P Attack, Hit, Fairy Aid amps, and 1000% critical buffs.

I found that you can speed up the battle while the special move music is being played. It actually makes the duration of the boosts last longer while the battle is speeding up since the music is not affected.

SilverAssassin210 In theory, but he's resistant enough that it may not be as good as you'd think. I used someone's 400,000 hit on him and he cut it down to 70,000. A decent hit, but it's sure no 1-shot, not against him. But try it with a Pirate's attacks to drop his defenses maybe?

Heh. Should try playing the original Bravely Default Flying Fairy (Japan only), which didn't have the Bravely Second ability at all! It was... harder. (The one most people know is the updated version titled "For the Sequel" in Japan and "Where the Fairy Flies" internationally.)

@@vervth Many people sadly skipped Bravely Second, but it's really good. Not as story-heavy as the original, but it looks and plays better. Revo doesn't come back to compose the music, but almost all music from the first game is still there since you revisit towns and face the old asterisk holders with the old asterisk theme, so half of the soundtrack is still Revo. There's other returning music, but... *spoilers*. All the special bosses that were exclusive to Streetpass in the first game, are now part of the main game. Basically, nothing to complain about except story progression being slower than the first game.

Everything you did to the enemy won't carry over. My preferred 999999 send move is a horrible mess that stems from a Monk/Dark Knight mix that does 999999 dark damage to EVERYTHING. The only downside is that it hits your party too, but with Spiritualism you can throw up that one ability that makes everyone absorb all elements. End result? Everything on the left side of the screen is dead, everything on the right side is healed to max.

1) Stillness negates all damage done to both teams for two turns, so all damage dealt by both parties for a couple of rounds will be 0. 2) M. Atk and P. Atk can only be raised 50% by either special attacks or abilities. The two ways, however, stack; raise it through special attack AND abilities, and you can reach a much higher number.

I wonder if it's possible to do 999,999 with a Dark Nebula. I did a 123k hit but that was nowhere near optimized, with my party at level 60 or so. I'm going to see how high I can get once I max my levels. Probably not 999999, but maybe 500k?

Update on this, I managed to hit 999,999 by using Speculate, but without it the best I can do so far is 834k damage. I wonder if there's any way to improve it. Freelancer + Dark Knight, Knuckle Lore, Natural Talent, Drain Attack Up, Crit Amp 200% attack, 300% hit count, 200% speed, 1900% crit Sword magic drain, Fairy's Aid, Full Leverage Fighting those flower things in Florem because 6 enemies = better chance of high RNG roll Though maybe something with lower defence would be better?

Did only 895 000 damage with almost the exact same setup (200% ATK / 1900% CRIT / same passives on my attacker / 75% enemy debuff everywhere and triple elem weakness), on the exact same mob, Easy mode, hitting on Thunder / Dark / Fire. Any idea why?

Did you have the correct family weakness applied? Anti Dragon in this case. Also, Full Leverage doubles the amount of damage done, though only for sending.

Yeah, I made sure to double-check. Actually managed to hit 999999 earlier today though - this time using a Time Mage to max my number of hits. Apparently, it affects your special moves' damage, too. Didn't think it did, so I didn't bother doing it the first time. Go figure. :)

YuureiShinji Hum, is that right? Interesting, though it does make some sense; the game tries to base special attack damage around how much a basic attack does, and more hits = higher basic attack. Probably means that having a stupid high AGI stat, hit count, and speed buffs with Frentic Fighting will beef anything to god-mode. (32 hits? At over 1k P.Atk a piece? Ffffff-) Problem is that it takes 2 slots for a possible x2 multiplier, and +198 attack with a +25% multiplier is better. (Or hell, even without that multiplier.)

Nope. Impossible. All of the Fist special moves are single target. The alternate option would be to second job set Valkyrie and use Crescent Moon, and that won't be near as good.

I think it would be between 1.4 and 1.7 million or so, because if you do not apply Full Leverage you are still a good bit below the cap usually. Full Leverage simply doubles the damage

As much as I like the build, I'm afraid that it's misleading, because it'll only do that much to a specific enemy type with those specific debuffs. Not to mention it's single target (Not a real issue because most of the difficult fights in the game are a single boss.) Though, it is the quickest, easiest way to get a ton of damage out without hunting for Buns.

You're right. In fact, if you try exposing an element weakness, that may bite you in the butt later. I had someone who dealt a good amount of damage, about 300k, as a summon. I didn't know what element they had equipped on their special attack. They ended up healing the boss I was fighting (I forget who) back to full health. I had to turn off my 3DS.
