Anyone else think that over the last 45 years the game has not evolved, but devolved?

As in devolved into a barrage of 3s and lob passes at the rim.
@swami17 ай бұрын
Certainly has. There’s very little fast-breaking and practically no inside play now. It’s all 3-point contests. Unwatchable.

@@PadreJud Yes! Ten assistant coaches but the guards can't throw decent entry passes into the post. At least four or five players on every team that can't shoot. Offenses are simplified...no one is running the Princeton or Triangle Offense. Those silly take fouls instead of hustling back on defense. And in the name of Chris Dudley please please, please stop letting bigs shoot threes! Everything ain't for everybody.

Outstanding footage...there should be a documentary about the 1975-76 NBA and ABA seasons. There was a collision course that would change pro basketball between the leagues forever. Even though the ABA was about to merge and fold, those guys bought a style of play a lot of people across the nation never heard about(or saw). Of course there was TV(even cable TV). But the TV networks refused to give the ABA a contract. The 1975(Colonels) and 76(Nets) ABA champs, challenged the Warriors and Celtics to a game but they refused. When the best from the ABA came over to the NBA and brought their style of play, all of a sudden the NBA became "too black". If you watch on YT the playoff series between of the NBA and ABA(limited coverage) you'll see the difference in the styles of play and the talent the ABA had.

@@Amick44 he was drafted in the very late rounds because he played college ball in buffalo... A local hero.. everyone thought he'd never make the squad and if he did we thought he would just hang around a year or two and play in garbage time... Little did we know

@@manny4552 definetely. I believe a 7th round draft pick. Then there were fewer teams so there were more rounds. Still, amazing how great he became given how low he was picked.

@@Amick44 yes sir I believe it was round seven.. they took big Elmore smith in round one and Fred Hilton who had a pretty big career at grambling in round two ... I remember even as far back as the 1970s even 1960s teams would sometimes just draft guys in the first round or two then abstain from making any more allotted picks.. so I knew the day of two round drafts was coming

7:57 - Bill Fitch and Jimmy Rodgers as coaches for the Cleveland Cavs, there to scout the teams. Both would end up being Celtics head coaches in the future..... Also, look at all the leisure suits with the colorful print polyester shirts with matching wide lapels in the crowd, and the coaching staffs. I didn't remember how copious they were in this time. It's almost like the people are wearing uniforms.......

I know that this video is mostly just highlights but people forget that while McAdoo was mostly known as a high scorer he was a good passer from both the high and low post as well as a very good rebounder and shot blocker considering he was small for a center
