Just on his fielding alone. He deserves to be more Hall of Fame

@@thndrtrth3787 exactly. If you can lut in Ozzie Smith then you can put in Andrew jones. Not saying Ozzie doesn't deserve it because he does. But c'mon Jones has 10 Gold Gloves.
@FreakishPower2 жыл бұрын
No. Loved his defense of course, but that's not enough. No matter the count or situation, he always tried to hit a HR. Would never try to hit a single to drive the run in.
@FreakishPower2 жыл бұрын
@@520beardownAgain, No. Shortstop defense is 10X more important than centerfield. O and AJ are the 2 best I've ever seen (Jim Edmunds an HM), but weak hitting shortstops are the norm.

How many remember Bobby Cox walking out to centerfield and removing Andruw from a game for not hustling on a play?
@ZCAR3552 жыл бұрын
Yes. I’ve tried to find a video of that moment, but haven’t yet.

Andruw had a lot of talent but when he was young could be immature. I don't remember Cox pulling Andruw from the game in centerfield but I do remember him being pulled from a game after showing up an umpire and not taking a lead from first base.

He went slow to second while Jones was throwing so as not to remind him where he started since it looked like he had started on second, hoping to get a soft toss back in to try to get a better jump on. It still doesn't make that much sense but that is why.

Andrew Jones was the best Center Fielder in the history of MLB bar none. He should be in the HOF !!!

Top 5 center fielder of all time. I remember hearing how he could spot the ball and be there long before the ball hooked and made it there. His dad used to hit tennis balls wayyy up in the air on the beach and make him fight the wind.

Notice on that last catch Jones does something that most outfielders today dont do when running down a fly near the wall, he looks for the wall so he knows where its at. Thats a lost art, a great outfielder can take their eye of the ball to find the wall, and then find the ball again without losing a step. Thats y a lot of outfielders struggle with those catches because they simply dont known where the wall is it.

how much higher would Glavine's ERA have been with a less center fielder? It's not a matter of him not making errors, he's getting to balls that would have easily been hits with most center fielders.

If the World Series had an award for a player on the losing team of a World Series, that particular award would go to Andruw Jones, the '96 World Series put young Andruw Jones on the map, despite the Braves losing, if the baseball 🌎 wasn't aware of who Andruw Jones was before the 1996 World Series started, they certainly were aware of who he was after it...

It shows how he adjusted to the field to make a catch. That's how good of a defender he was. He only needed one pitch to realize what he needed to do to make a catch.

A Hi-Light video with a ball not caught? Then a second chance.., which he made harder than it should have been... Jones was pretty damn good, don't get me wrong.., but seriously, you want to see a real hi-light video, search Jim Edmunds...
