Nita Pita - I agree with you about Gizelle. I love her quirky personality and humor. A little bit prickly and provocative, which makes unique good drama... I can't stand pretentious Karen. She's bitter on Gizelle often unnecessarily. Gizelle's so right, speaks well on race relations. It's because she was raised by an active father (in New Orleans) well respected in his contribution to equality issues his whole life. There are a lot of people who comment on her as a privileged girl raised in white society... that's so wrong and incorrect! Gizelle is so light skinned as if she's mixed-race but she's absolutely not. Not at all! People forget how her father welcomed these women in New Orleans - his agenda was showing them black history and he told them how slaves suffered etc. Didn't they enjoy and learn? He was and still is an activist. Having light skin does not always mean one is a privileged white person. For example in Nigeria there are many Ibbo people with clear spotless skin, yet totally black.

Gizelle is shallow, and her kids know it. She opened her platform right now to talk about putting on makeup. People don't really give Candiace a chance, but she has been speaking, working, and very articulate. Gizelle sounds so unprepared and slightly uninformed, and speaking about substance is not her passion. Her kids recognized that her voice for injustice or justice on her platform and in that moment has not been used.
