Gia has been put into adult situations since she was a child. They want to treat her like an adult and when she responds as an adult and not child it’s a problem.

That’s her dad, and she has a right to be angry at her uncle for disrespecting her dad. He provided for them as a family and gave them the best. The best housing, schools, and everything. He even went to prison to provide for his family. Theresa wasn’t innocent in any of that, because she knew where that illegal money was coming from but enjoyed the luxurious lifestyle. Joe Gorga can’t blame Joe Guidice for everything when she knew what was going on. They dispose of Joe Guidice after he was deported and now she’s with this new man. That is hurtful for their daughter Gia to see what they have done to her father. Used him up and disposed of him!

And that's why we have disrespectful husbands, wives and adults in general, because as younger individuals they have been talked down to and spoken to like they're nothing. It's a viscous cycle. It's important for Gia to let Joe know how she feels. As an adult woman now, I applaud her for not letting her uncle use an aggressive tone with her as he did when she was a kid. It's commendable because it means she's not going to let any guy talk to her the way she watch her dad and uncle talk to their wives. She could have worded it differently, "Do you mind lowering your tone" or whatever but I get it. Adults don't like being challenged by mini adults because they will always view them as kids.

Anyone who says Gia is being disrespectful by setting boundaries and not allowing anyone to talk to her as if she’s less than simply because she’s younger, has an antiquated view of what respect means. This is where there's a generational disconnect, bc I understand Gia's perspective. Ppl like to use the fact that they are older as a means to control the way you can act, when you're younger than them. They also like to use it as a means to feel inevitably wiser, smarter, and altogether correct than you'll ever have the chance to be, before you even speak a word on a given matter. Despite this, Gia made a valid point imo, which is that she wants to have a rational conversation with respect, rather than being talked down to, just because she's a niece and a 20 year old. She didn't say anything outlandish other than just wanting Joe to speak to her like the adult she is, rather than the kid she used to be. And she also didn't want his hot temper to blow up, as soon as she speaks with an honest heart (which ofc, it did anyways, as he goes running off like a dramatic child). She doesn't negate that he wasn't there for her in a big way throughout her life, but her Dad is also her father, whom she is very close to and loves dearly. Sometimes, it feels like Joe's disdain for Gia's father makes him feel justified in making Gia almost put him on a higher pedestal in respect and admiration than her own father. This type of behavior is both unfair and simply wrong. Gia is clearly observant and recognizes this, which is likely why she holds a slight grudge w/the blatant disregard Joe seems to have toward her father and her relationship to him as a whole. She naturally feels that a lot of the ways her father was treated wasn't entirely fair. And what's wrong w/her feeling that way? I don't think she said anything terribly mean. And she certainly wasn't behaving in a rude manner. The only one who did that was Joe. Period.

I agree to some extent because all of these kids have had a level of disrespect through the years that I thought was crazy...but I also understand Gia at this point. If you take away that cultural elder dynamic, she's not intentionally disrespectful here, just standing her ground. She's speaking quite calmly and letting it be known that certain things are not going to fly because she is an adult. I've had similar moments in my own family and I guess it's just a personal choice. For me, once the dysfunction gets to a certain point I felt I had a right to speak my peace as an adult. I was respectful, and even tiptoed on egg shells in my delivery out of that respect, but I still made my voice heard. I was also prepared for the possible repercussions though(i once had to temporarily leave home and stay with other family. Ish got REAL😅)... Thankfully, it all turned out okay but I was totally prepared for it to go south. It did take time too. Heated conversations turned into more thoughtful discussions over the years and things got better. Also, in this situation she's defending her father which is the elder in her life she should have the utmost respect for.

A uncle has zero business speaking ill of his nieces' dad publicly. He had to know that they would be hurt by his words. Regardless of the things that Joe Guidice did, he love his daughters. When Joe Gorga discuss Joe Guidice, he should indicate that he won't say things about JG that would hurt his nieces feelings.

People act like all he did was commit some crimes, involve his wife in it and go to prison...but no only did he do these things, he was violent and abusive and an untreated alcoholic, who took that trauma out on everyone in his family. I'm sure there is more horrible that we don't know about - and his girls practice similar disrespect they saw from him towards their mother. It's commendable that Gia wants everything to die to protect her younger siblings, but you can't expect adults to be perfect. It's good that she was rational about it and talked through her feelings and how what he is doing hurts her/her sisters.

I agree…I think if the Guidice girls weren’t so disrespectful since they were little, people would have more grace for how Gia is responding to Joe. Because I get it, that’s her father he’s speaking poorly about. However, they’ve always been mouthy and disobedient so I would’ve been like (as her mother) “girl, who are you talking to like that?”That’s my brother, your uncle…speak your truth, and do it respectfully”. It’s not a crime to get heated while in a disagreement, but let’s not start out that way.

He should have respect for his niece enough to know that talking about her father would be upsetting to her. He instead puts his own feelings ahead of hers and attacks her father in front of the world. Who cares if he is the elder if he doesn’t act like it?! But .... the Daddy/Daughter bond trumps everything. It's not always logical & blurs the child's perspective as to the reality of the parents misdeeds.

In defense of your own mother though? My dad is petty as hell with my mom. We don’t play that. My uncles don’t play that.

Joe is right Gia your uncle has been there for you and your family….Cut him some slack and show some respect. Because at the end of the day he will be there for you. It’s hurtful to him that you don’t acknowledge that. Your Dad was the one who destroyed your family. Hard to hear but the truth.

People living in glass houses, throwing stones and get surprised when the glass breaks.🤪🤪🤪 That little girl is really disrespectful. Even if she doesn't like what her uncle said he wasn't lying. Her mother should have said something to her.. Being an adult means you can be upset with your family but you STILL know your place and respect.. Just Saying

No being an adult means you do not bash a child's father publicly or around them. Now she is an adult and will stand up for her father. I am sure he was a good father to her.
