I sort of take Amalia's '20 power wipe the board' ability as a way to demonstrate that she's found the path she's looking for, finally, and manages to get to her goal (your squishy life total) without anything being able to stand in her way. But she's White/Black so instead of becoming unblockable she does that by wiping out the rest of the 'obstacles'

It looks really sweet and I bet it's a blast to get that much value but oh my God I would say 1/2 to 1/4 of all my historic brawl games lately have been against Pantlaza or Gishath. It's quickly becoming very boring to see the same exact deck game after game sometime multiple games in a row. I love big value aggressive decks but it's very much a mulligan to board wipe or lose turn 5.

@@Amazonian It's a very good card for sure! I'm sure the amount of matches will die down a bit once the new set comes out. It's like playing against Jodah when Dominaria United came out and running into him multiple times in a session. I enjoyed your game and this comment was definitely not about your deck or your video. Always enjoy watching you play and how you keep a positive you are about all the decks you play against.

I'm guessing Amalia's kill-everything ability is because she's based on the real-life conquistador Lope de Aguirre, who was nicknamed the "Wrath of God" (in reality, and in the Herzog movie based on him) - hence, as promised, she Wrath of Gods the board.

There is also the 2017 criminal case of a missing child in Ecuador called 'caso niña Emilia' (Child Emilia case) when a child named Emilia Benavides (sound very similar to Amalia Benavides) went missing and found dead 4 days later. It is a strange coincidence the similar name, the missing case and the explore mecanic and the fact that Amalia is a vampire, so an undead by definition. Maybe it was a tribute to the child, but hard to tell as well

Im not going to lie, playing against dino is quickly becoming the new Etali for me in that the amount of value it cheats into play is not fun to play against. But i guess thats the mark of a 'good' commander, isnt it? 😅

seems to be the way they make tribal decks good now, just have cards that generate so much value that you either remove them the instant they come down or you get buried in all the stuff they spew out.

been playing pantlaza since release! turbo ramp with protection and blinks. I use kaheera as a companion in mine, prevents dorks but just using 2 and 3 mana ramp spells for lands feels better since I use 4 board wipes of 3 damage. also I call pantlaza "PANTS" and idk why, but it's fun lol. but yea you should try ephemerate and teleportation circle. you can play a dino to trigger pantlaza, then blink pantlaza to get another discover since it's a new pantlaza.

I find it more consistent. You can have a few big dinos, but then you also make the deck more ramp-heavy. I'd rather have 30 dinosaurs than 15 with 15 more ramp pieces

My rudimentary Spanish says it should be an "H" sound, but also, we weren't given official pronunciations until this set came out, so most of the old Ixalan names are anglicized in funny ways, like Huatli and Ixalan, which I also mispronounce.

Okay? The Alchemy cards can all be replaced in this build (and most decks), but not using them in Arena is shooting yourself in the foot.
