Back in the day Arguel's blood fast was one of my favorite draw engines and also cards to try and flip in commander. The fact that they printed this commander is so cool, and it's so well designed. I'm just endlessly, endlessly sad I can never play this Arguel legally in paper. Alchemy can make cool cards, it's just really upsetting you can't play them anywhere except Arena.

Been playing Arguel as a general black/white control commander with subthemes of sacrifice and value off sacrifics, but mostly control, and having almost nothing but creatures that want to die such as Edgar, and Bat god, it's so fun.

Would Mirror Box work to ramp black mana with a bunch of Temples of Aclazotz, due to how many times you sac Arguel on the regular?

As long as you never choose not to transform it, you can keep stacking them up with a mirror box and play. Once you have both permanents, you're getting the tokens whether you want them or not

It might be sorcery speed, but Recommission might be a good white two drop for this deck. It renanimates Arguel and puts a +1/+1 counter on him when he enters!

I feel like I might be alone in this but I kinda like the silly or broken Alchemy cards they've been playing with. Seems like a good format for that.

Some are definitely more fun than others. I personally like Crucias when he isn't being used to combo

@@Amazonian you're not wrong - Crucias also seems much more reasonable after the nerf. I feel likewise about Poq, though I'm sure that card will be nerfed to be less silly eventually as well (just make the lands tapped, sheesh).

They might be a little too strong right now, but I personally love playing with Poq. Half the time it's just janky ramp, other times it's super explosive and overwhelming, but even just playing a fetch land, getting two of them, then cracking one on the opponent's turn, and getting a second land from the fetch is just so satisfying.
