Because there have been a few comments with misconceptions about this: "Reverse Nair" is not the same thing as x-pivoting. X-pivoting is when your momentum shifts back from quickly attacking in the opposite direction of your momentum (1:39 and 2:32, for example). The inputs for reversing an attack and xpivoting it are the same, but they are called different things because only certain moves can xpivot. Gauntlets nair, for example, does not change your momentum when reversed.

Im gonna try to say this in english, but im sorry if i cant. Ok, to do this in controller, you have to put the left analog up while you jump, and move the analog just a little bit to the direction you want, in a diagonal form. The game doesn't have an attack that correspond with up analog, so it will consider like a neutral air

It was kinda misleading for me to say that, but in fighting games, input devices like hitboxes or mixboxes have alternative versions called "left handed" versions where the movement buttons are placed on the right side instead. Being right handed does not necessarily mean that you won't prefer the "left handed" version, however.

i dont know if you will read this , but i move on arrows keys too and i never played with space to jump, i use up and yes i wasnt able to do certain combos but when i prioritize over side i really liked the option because now i can rly do the combos with no problem. here is the thing u said was bad anyway cause it force a jump when u do it ,and i agree but my question is. is realy that bad? i did try to change it and play like you, but i just cant, im a plat player not very good but not bad i guess, and when i change to jump in space i just cant move basacly i lost my movement complety, and i wonder, if its really worth it to relearn the game again just cause of this or if i will be fine if i just go with the prioritize over side sry for my bad english but i wish u cant understand what im trying to ask.

hey dopameme im a controller user and i use 2 buttons to jump and 2 buttons to grab: i use up to jump and X to jump: i use Up to jump tis because i use it for better movement and i know u say its gonna be harder to do reverse nairs but i can do them just fine all i do is flick my analog stick the other way thats all. the only time i dont flick it is when im chase dodging and u cant instantly jump after chase dodge so i just move the anolog stick diagnaly up. With recovering, u know when u can throw ur weapon to protect urself from an incoming GP? yeah im not affected either cause all i do is i press my throw button first then press up and i do it fast. Reason why i use X to jump tis because of jump attacks. like all ppl i press jump and attack at the same time I use R1 and triangle to throw: reason why i have triangle is because im not a claw player, its easier for me to do insta pick ups to GC attacks when its hard to reach the R2 button (which is my dodge) Any other attacks i can use with R1 if u dont know what a claw player is (which i assume u do) its a controller player who basically uses all five fingers on each side of the controller sometimes less

Reverae nair strings are just bread and butter of any BH montage, but sadly they are not very practical damage wise, except if yiu are goin to do a 2 read- string which are extremely hard to pull off and are very situational. A famous gaunts rev nair string would be dlight_dair_chasedodge (dodge away read)_rev nair_gc dlight_rev nair_jump_recovery. It does around 90 damage, from white and looks pretty fine, but at the same time there are options that are a lot easier to pull off. Dlight_dair-slight_nair_gc dlight_chasedodge_ recovery-nair is infinitly easier to perform, but has almost the same result. It does around 80 dmg if I remember correctly. It is a shame that nair string are so unrewarding and I believe it is due to the move being so extremely slow. If only throw animation was tiny bit quicker so that we could do like a nair after recovery if we use 2 rev nair which are perfectly timed it would make it so rewarding, but at this point right now reversed gaunlets nair is just a montage thing.

No, reverse nair with gauntlets is extremely practical when used for dodge reads. A staple gauntlets read is catching your opponents dodge with nair and then doing gc dlight > cdodge nair > recovery. The problem with this combo is it takes up a lot of space, but you can use a reverse nair to keep them on stage and get more guaranteed damage. It's not just a montage thing.

I think the reason of our different opinion lies in the playstyle. I would prefer throwing my opponent of the stage to score an early KO rather than build up damage to finish them with dlight rec or whatever. I realy liked your gaunlets guide :) I did miss that you seem to not know or left out the dlight dash jump recovery as a true combo from 140dmg and kills on 170 (normal gc dlight kills on 160, one hit difference (5 force stance))

I still use jump+aim up just because that's how I do movement, I'm using WASD and mouse. I tried putting W as up and space as jump and I sucked ass. Now I've come midway and I use space for strings and W for moving around. I also dont prioritize neutral over side cause some of my approaches consist of jump sair, which would result in me just doing nair cause of normal movement. The only time I need space is for dlight dash jump dair or for slight dair for spot dodgers.

I’ve personally found it really easy for me to perform reverse neutral attacks on default controller set up. In fact, I’ve been doing it quite a bit in strings and mix ups before I watched this video. I might’ve found it easier to do because I would usually spend hours in practise mode to perfect whatever the fuck with scythe, because I played ALOT of scythe. The only problem with it is that I can’t do any item throw combos to spare my poor life with these controls. Good video tho!

The method for doing reverse nairs is the same on controller and you should definitely still disable "jump + aim up" and "pick up with light attack". Follow the advice in the bottom right at 2:34 for advice on how to reverse nair on controller

Nice video bro, quality content right there my guy... Now I just have 1 question. I play on keyboard and whenever i want to dash dlight and ground pound (unarmed) on the edge of the map, when my character falls down the stage, it automatically chain dodges down and nearly kills me instead of hitting the opponent and normally jumping and ground pounding. I figured out it might be because I leave my finger on shift (dodge) so when im off the stage it dodges, but Its too hard to release my pinky from the shift before doing the ground pound. I would have to down shift to dash forward and then release both the down and shift buttons and then press my jump button and then press my down and heavy keys and id have to do all that before allowing a dodge window.. This also happens when im on stage but instead of chain dodging me off the map it chain dodges back to the ground and it makes my character do a dsig which is the breakdance move.. AND IT ALSO happens when doing this string from a gravity cancel dlight, so i basically cant do a dash dlight gp right now and i just wanted to know if there was a way to fix this... Sorry if there are any mistakes, english isnt my first language and thanks for the help

My tip for you would be to stop using shift to dodge. Right now, try pressing shift with your pinky as fast as you can. You'll probably notice from doing this that you don't have that much control over your pinky. This is why I heavily recommend picking a button that you can press with your ring finger for dodge (I use A). My friend had a similar problem before when he used shift to dodge and he's doing much better now that I convinced him to use a different dodge button.

Actually, the "prioritize neutral over side" option in settings does nothing if you disable jump + aim up (as I recommend doing in the video). The technique I show in the video is possible as long as you are not using jump + aim up, whether "prioritize neutral over side" is ticked or not.
