Your mistake wasn't improper winterizing. Your mistake was being anywhere cold enough to have to winterize. 😂

We bought the travel trailer first; then the truck. We also use the RV Life App to plan out gas stops and make sure gas stations are RV friendly when we need to stop -- so we have even gas stops planned out ahead of time on our routes. Extremely helpful.

Glad things are working well for you on selling your trailer. During hurricane season I suggest you don't let the tank go below half, if you might have to evac with a rig, not below 3/4. Cheers.

Remember Andrew’s Golden RULE, if you’re going to get one, GET A BIG ONE. Great video guys. So long as you stick to this rule you basically can’t make a mistake. Happy to hear you sold your rig. Really looking forward to seeing what you get next. We always fill up at half a tank and carry lots of spare diesel.

Sitting here on my front porch watching your video on your mistakes. I look over at our 5th wheel that is parked on the side of the house and I notice the vent cover is missing over the kitchen! We just returned to Florida from Alaska. So the vent cover is somewhere between Wyoming and Florida!😊

We made the same mistake of buying the 1/2 ton pick-up, then the rig….. ended up going up to 3/4 ton…. And now realize we are somewhat restricted if we decide to go up to a 5th wheel. Glad to see I’m not the only one!

Weight balance in a trailer generally should be 60/40, but when in doubt always bias to the front.

I hear you on the WDH. It would seem just the opposite, but you are right.....need that tongue weight. On the winterization I hear you.....we stored our RV int the Panhandle for the holidays started driving back to Dallas....got to Monroe La and the weather forecast changed and we did not winterize.. We wound up driving ALL the way back to the Fla Panhandle the next day to blow out the lines. 7 hours , another hotel and 800 mikes worth of diesel wasted. Should have included that.

Wellll, since we're in the confession mode, When we bought our first pop-up and hit our first campground, we never leveled. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why I was having issues with the screen door🤣🤣. And yes we ended up doing the truck first on our F250(which I loved) as well. Ended up lucky there though, because we traded it in on our F350 at the time when used values where outta control so we made a pretty penny on it. We ended up with the F350 7.3 liter as we figured we just don't need to tow more than that truck would tow. We too wanted a smallish 5th wheel and figured a 1 ton truck would do it. It worked out well as we ended up with a Rockwood 374BH. Best of luck on your new rig - can't wait to see what you guys get.

Congrats on selling your rig !! Missy and I are racking our brains about our mistakes, hard to remember since I’m perfect, 😂.. Not at all, so our most costly mistake, my fault, we have the NSA Surge brake that has a cable that attaches to the toad to pull the brake pedal when the rig brakes. Well, I had that cable too tight. No smoke but the brakes got so hot it burnt a hole in the brake line, burnt up all 4 rotors, pads, and calipers… Stupid expensive…. My first mistake was with our first rig, a 38’ Open Range Travel Trailer, tried to use the stabilizers as a leveling jack, well I bent it right in half. Good news was that Missy made me trade it in 3 days later for a Class C motorhome so we didn’t have to pay to repair that, LOL. My dirtiest mistake was not having a secondary valve on the black tank. On an extremely hot day, we are at a dump station. The cap was super stuck on and I took both hands to open it. As soon as it loosened the gases and liquid exploded and sprayed all over me. Evidently the black tank valve leaks a little… Well, after wiping down with bleach wipes that i keep in that compartment (bleach burns by the way) i finished the dumping process, went inside, showered and then moved the rig from the dump station. I was known as stands with brown face with my friends for a time, LOL !! I now have an extra valve… There’s a theme here, I make all the mistakes.
