Officials at Rio de Janeiro's zoo said on Wednesday (21 May) that the number of people visiting has risen since the country's three-banded armadillo was named as the mascot for next month's football World Cup.

too many humans... 95% of all species are extinct. We, like the armadillo, will probably end up in that 95%. Nature always restores order. Takes a few million years, though. I'll take care of animals, but it's pretty hopeless, considering the earth's and our own history. And of course there is this paradox: when an animal becomes rare, more people want to kill it and have its hide, meat, pelt, etc... This doesn't help. Ask rhino's, elephants, tigers… etc.

No it isn't his accent, he doesn't have a regional accent in fact. It is the intonation he uses. Im British and it's a thing reporters do here to sound emphatic. Many of us find it quite annoying.
