BRAZIL vs NETHERLANDS | Highlights | Men's VNL 2024. The TeamNL Tall Men started their third week of the Volleyball Nations League with a defeat. The Netherlands offered Brazil a good match, but after four sets they had to admit their superiority against the current number 4 in the world.
Brazil
Brazil qualified for Paris 2024 last fall during the Olympic qualifying tournament in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilians are fourth in the world rankings. Brazil has only lost once in the past eight VNL matches. In Fukuoka, Slovenia was too strong in five sets. Last year, the Netherlands and Brazil also met in the Philippines (3-0 win for Brazil). The last time the TeamNL Long Men managed to beat Brazil was during the 2018 World Cup.
Set 1
The Netherlands put Brazil under heavy pressure from the service line from the start and after two aces from Plak, the TeamNL Long Men lead 11-7. A timeout from coach Bernardo Rezende stops the Dutch run, after which Brazil fights back to 15-15 with crucial blocking points from Lucas and Flavio. The Brazilians then take the lead and manage to reach 18-21. Coach Piazza intervenes with a timeout at 21-23, after which Nimir beats his team to the same level with two consecutive points. A kill block from Plak then gives the Netherlands a set point. This is cleared away, but at the second Dutch set point Piazza Sil brings Meijs into the field for the service. The playmaker serves the TeamNL Long Men with an ace to win the set.
Set 2
The TeamNL Tall Men also managed to open a four-point gap at the start of the second set (9-5). Nimir strengthens this lead with two consecutive aces, taking the score to 15-10, the largest lead so far. Just like in the first set, Brazil managed to level the score again, with an ace from Lucas lifting the score to 17-17. Nimir keeps the Netherlands in the lead for a while, but Darlan turns the tables and gives Brazil the lead for the first time at 18-19, and then extends it to 19-21. The Netherlands cannot close the gap and at 22-24 Brazil gets two set points. Lucas uses the second set point, bringing the match back into balance.
Set 3
In the third set, Dutch service errors initially led to a small lead for Brazil. Although an ace from Parkinson and an error from Darlan gave the Dutch a temporary lead, the score quickly turned back in Brazilian favor. After an ace from Lucarelli it is 9-12. The Netherlands continues to struggle with service errors, which prevents a series of points. Towards the final phase, the Tall Men managed to get close and after a strong service from Nimir, Van Garderen evened the score at 20-20. In an exciting final phase, in which both teams have opportunities to take the set, it is ultimately Brazil that decides the set with a kill block from Flavio on the sixth set point.
Set 4
The initiative remains with Brazil in the fourth set, in which the team runs to 9-12. The South Americans further increase their lead and at 18-13 Piazza takes his team to the side for the last time. Thanks to strong side-out play, Brazil can maintain the lead and the Netherlands does not get a chance to get back into the match. Via substitute Alan, five match points eventually appear on the scoreboard, the second of which he cashes in for the victory.
Nimir became the top scorer of the match with 37 points.
Result
Netherlands - Brazil 1-3 (26-24, 23-25, 28-30, 20-15).

Vengo de ver el anime haikyuu y yo solo pensé, en realidad no puede ser tan épico este juego, luego de ver esto e quedado convencido de que estaba equivocado, esto fue muy épico
