This is such a beautiful park. 100% worth it for the Nature Center and the Observatory. The camping is great too.

Ok. I’m a camper/ hiker. I love going to Texas state parks. I live 30 minutes away from Brazos Bend State Park but never went. In my mind, if the park was close, it wasn’t worth the trip. But boy was I pleasantly surprised. I went for a hike there and I was so impressed. It’s a great place to camp and hike. It’s really beautiful. The wildlife is abundant and the trails were neat, well, defined, and away from the hustle and bustle. If you are considering going to this park, please go. You won’t regret it.

Is there a system that can be build or something to preserve the volumes of the lakes? They’re so dried up. I was there yesterday and been going there for years and each time I go the water is lower and lower
@texasparksandwildlife Жыл бұрын
Texas has been experiencing drought conditions since 2021, which is part of why water levels are lower than usual. Sometimes water is pumped into lakes, but that can be expensive and it's up to policymakers to make that decision. Other bodies of water, like Pilant Lake and Old Horseshoe Lake, are natural pond/marsh swamp systems that are allowed to rise and fall with the weather. Letting these areas dry out is an essential part of their ecology and allows the germination of plants highly sought after by waterfowl. It also prevents the build up of peat which would eventually fill in the lakes. But prolonged drought conditions are still a concern that we'll have to monitor closely.

I feel exactly the same. I love this park and loved escaping to it from Houston when I lived there for 7 years. I have happily been out of Houston for 15 months, but whenever I find myself back in the area, I will be sure to visit this place again.

Hello 👋 I live in Sweden 🇸🇪 and I have a special request, if there is a possibility for you guys to make a video about the Sabal x Brazoriensis? I believe that it grows as a native plant on the complex. Would be great if you guys could make that happen 👍 Best regards from Sweden 🇸🇪
