Extremely helpful video. as someone who loves getting that hwavy work in, but needs far more volume than i can maintain at an RPE8-10 intensity, I've found the top set backdown approach to work best in my case

Listening to your appearance on Strong Words with Chance and Ben, you discussed how you found success moving away from volume and favouring more intense work - building to rep maxes - on the deadlift. In this video, you talk about doing an over-warm single followed by volume, if you were to remake this video now would you amend this and say that you keep in an intense top set, with reduced backoff volume to accommodate?

Thank you for this video, going to start implementing this in to my own training as it is not something i have done. How often would you suggest someone do this? I train using DUP, and my squats as example im going to use a top set for hypertrophy one week, then top set for strength the following week? so have top sets on weekly rotation. is that too few?

Thoughts on implementing a heavy single once a week before working sets on all lifts maybe like rpe 7-8?

Top singles have worked well for me in squats but not that great in deadlifts. Top sets have helped me in all lifts. This probably has something to do with my leverages for sure.

@@frustrateduser666 Squat training is the easiest to program honestly. Bench ive found that singles 2-3x a week fairly heavy is easy to recover from and keep you bench press ready at all times. Deadlift i still havent figured out and am still toying with. I have realized tho that going high rep topset on bench is an absolutely terrible idea

When you say you’re using percent on your volume sets, are those percents taken from your top set of the day or from a different say like a 1 rm?
