Hi! I'm a doctor and had patients who survived brain cancer/tumor surgery too. Unfortunately, we can't save everyone though (I had a friend who died very young because of brain cancer). Thanks for your message to the medical community. We seldom hear gratitude from people and it really uplifts our spirits when they do say they appreciate what we do. It makes all the countless hours of lack of sleep and time for ourselves and family worth it when we see that we saved another life. Thank you and God bless your family!

so many things going through my head watching this -- I've been on both ends, 1) being a nurse and 2) having had 8 going on 9 surgeries. watching you in pre-op then as the meds started taking effect, it's just such a visceral reaction. i know youre getting ready to do this again and you will definitely be in my prayers. watching these has really encouraged me and i want to thank you so much for that! I'm 17 years old and really contemplating the career in the medical field. Hearing Ali and seeing how thankful she is, is really encouraging and inspiring to me as I would love to bring joy to deserving people like the Trippy's. Seeing unfortunate and bad things happen to good people is unfair but it's good to know there are people out there to cure some of the problems.

not very many do. they dont knock you out cuz they want to make shore that they dont hit any vital spots. the reason why they dont ant you eat or drinking is that some of the meds that they give you to num or help the knock out drugs side effects are nausea and vomiting so you are kinda right

ill ills Actually, most brain surgeries are done under general anesthesia. It's extremely rare to do an awake one but it happens from time to time. Before trying to correct someone how about you get your facts straight.

Thank God for giving surgeons and all medical people the gift to do this. I close family member had a brain tumor and watching this is bringing back memories. The mapping they do before the surgery. The recovery. He had a benign pituitary adenoma and a craniotomy too. The titanium...all of it. It was benign and that was 6 years ago. He is doing great. I know God was guiding the hands of the surgeons! God Bless all of you and I will always pray for you! :-)

I can't believe he had his catheter removed so soon though. I also had a tumor when I was 19, but it was on my spine. I was in the hospital for seven days, six of which was with a catheter. Those things are evil. Removing it was terrible, thank God I wasn't awake when they out it in. Hope Charles has a quick recovery!

i believe it's because this surgery was a little less tense! really hard to explain brain surgeries.. but it more looks like his motter skills from this last surgery was effected because they "scrapped" off the mass from his brain making it more "clean" but he is actually recovering pretty normal! and talking alot better then I thought.

Don't be scared :) Its easy, when you wake up you feel quite tired :) Before the surgery, you get something called a IV, 30 minutes before they put the IV in you, they put numbing cream on the area (usually on the top of your hand or the inside of your elbow) (the elbow IV is quite irritating!) it barely hurts! It hurts less then a flu shot. I recently had a seizure from a flu shot, but I am kinda recovering (in terms of being scared of needles). :D Have a nice day.
