The point of the Russian Roulette scene between Gi-hun and the Recruiter is that the Recruiter wasn't going to abandon the rules of the system. Gi-hun was ready and willing to risk it all because he has nothing to lose at this point. And the Recruiter lost. Simple as that. Both of them were not willing to abandon the rules of the game.

The two actors acting at the end was just top tier they did really great in that last scene. A strong start for Season 2.

To me the bread and lottery scene symbolizes people giving in to their greed, and a POSSIBLE chance for something greater, over a surething of what they needed. Once they lost on the scratcher, you could see people still wanting the bread and not wanting him to walk away. He destroys it in front of them cause he's showing them they, themselves, gave up what they needed. It just shows the greed and a more negative aspect of humans, and he's disgusted by it. Just a reminder for himself. I think it's one of the most important scenes cause it explains his whole character and pretty much the whole message of Squid Game. At least that's how I took it 🤔

Hello. I took it a different way. I think it symbolises that if you offer people the chance of carrying on living hand to mouth or the chance of breaking the cycle of poverty then they will take that chance. (Most will anyway, I think). Destroying the bread is the punishment for dreaming of a better life. It's like he's saying "how dare you want something better! " You know, toe the line(or is it tow the line?) or we will take away everything. Know your place. Stuff like that. I ain't the most eloquent but that's my take on the scene.
