Another interesting thing you can do with a breadboard is convert any unused thrust into power using CJE generators. It's most useful with hovering craft, but you do it by setting up a GBS to tune the percentage of the thrust from the jets based on the amount of power you are using on that axis.

Excellent bread! If this still isn’t enough maneuverability, use differential thrust to further increase -pilot injury- evasion!

I haven't tried it but would using the standard flight surfaces in conjuction with thrust vectoring also increase manerueablity

The only bread I ever made was automatically switching the shells that an APS uses. Basically making real dual purpose guns, firing APHE at big targets and flak/frag at smaller ones. The time it took to reload kinda defeated it's usefulness but as a novelty it was fun.

The neat thing about breadboards is that once you get the logic of how they function, you'll start to see all sorts of things you might be able to make them do, especially as they keep expanding it's capabilities, and ability to properly interface with the other control systems. And while many things require the use of math functions, even there a /vague/ idea of what the math functions do is often enough to be able to make use of them. You don't need to know how SIN actually works to learn how to use it to make something that goes back and forth or up and down over time.

With the sum operator allowing for values from -2 to 2 rather than just -1 to 1 you might want to use a smaller number than 15 to multiply after as any total greater than 1 will be be stuck at the 15 degree max. The exact number would likely vary from ship to ship and likely isn't a huge deal either way but it's something to keep in mind. I'm proud of you for venturing into breadboard! Keep up the good work! An idea you can play with if you want is using bread to modify a PAC turret's settings on the fly. Make it switch to slow firing pierce against large ships and fast firing impact for tiny fliers. It's like an advanced cannon that can switch all it's ammo stats in an instant.

Since the values range from -2 to 2 but jets only permit -15 to 15, you should set it to x7.5 for an exact match. That way the PID has full control and knows that 90% is 90% and 10% is 10%.

theres some documentation on it and probably something for much later but anything on learning about how to use vector math and vectors in FtD for breadboards would be nice cause i still struggle to figure out how to measure distances on 2 axis only for my nuke bomber (yes, it actually drops nukes)

You can make some fun wobly stuff with cos or sine functions and a timmer. Like for tanks that are scanning with a turret and stuff. Or for walkers. Or melee if you need a hammer.

Good tutorial Borderwise! If you are interested: Lately I have been trying to make APS bombers work using the Breadboard, as there is a possibility to fire weapons. However, I struggled to make it work. Maybe you have an idea to solve this issue. Kind Regards A little Crab

Horrible PID tune? Oscillations? Nah we call this evasive maneuvers here! Fun Bread: Getting a PAC fire event and sending that through a Accumulator set to reset > 3 and feed that into a generic block setter for the PAC on damage type to cycle through each damage type while firing. If you want the next shot to always be different. Great fun. Also in the same bread it can be helpful to get the battery charge of the Craft. The 0-1 fraction and multiply this by a constant and feed this into the PAC overclocking. This is helpful if you only have enough battery charging to sustain lower Overclocking but you still have enough battery for some higher damage Alpha strikes. Also helps with redundancy if your batters get blown up the PAC tires to use less power. All the stuff i found useful stuff i found since your first Bread tutorial

I just watched this thinking I'd only learn about bread. I see that CJEs can be pretty space efficient compared to simple jets.

Suggestion: Controlling subobjects via custom axes. That should help people understand what custom axes are in general and how to use them.

Hey BorderWise, did you know that you can hook up PID to the thrust vectoring? Fox example to set yaw: Create a steering point info editor block and use its target bearing relative to own vehicle, put that to your process variable input on pid Create a constant block and set to 0 and put that to your set point input on pid Multiply with 15 and fine tune that pid as you like

Probably just being stupid, but when I try to pitch up and down the engines cut out. Doesn’t do it for roll and I copied this exactly so I’m very confused…

Make sure to turn off the auto-assigned AI propulsion control, that tends to stuff things up. 👍

How do this for a submarine like air pumps to a set depth???
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 Ай бұрын
You would probably connect an altitude propulsion input (making sure that the vehicle is allowed to hover) through a x1 multiplier component to a generic block setter controlling the air-pumps. Haven't tried it myself, but that should work.

How does the mainframe transmit and how do the batteries charge?
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 11 ай бұрын
There's nothing in the mainframe with a transmitter or batteries, though? If you mean in general, mainframes transmit using AI transmitters and batteries can be charged with RTGs, fuel engines or steam turbines.
