Mature breadfruit is one of the most delicious fruits I have ever eaten (almost equaling that of durian!). The taste can be described as some sort of creamy rhum-custard-cake.

u can store breadfruit in the fridge by wrapping it with two or three sheets of newspaper...ive grown up seeing my gran do it and i also do it

What does wrapping it in newspaper do? vs putting it in by itself.

@Pastry howard Thanks. What about wrapping it in aluminum foil, will this work too? Also, what if I put it in the fridge after roasting it first. Should I still wrap it in newspaper. Sorry, last question. What's the best way to fry breadfruit or make them crispy like potato fries?

When its ripe you can cut it into 2 or 4 peices and bake it in the oven till its kinda dry. Its the best.

Is there a wax we can use to make the 3greadfruit last longer for shipping or longer shelflife?

Thanks for guiding me ....My prime question is in my tree right from its fruiting, I could not harvest a 25% of the same due to the reason the fruit began to fall at the stage of maturing, the stem become yellowish for few days and fallen down before it fully matured. 90% of fruits are wasted in this way even the horticulturists could not understand the reason for it....

I wonder, would any kind of bread fruit grow in Maine? I'd love to add a few trees to my home garden.
@katinapac-baez50837 жыл бұрын
You'd probably have a hard time growing this any further north than Georgia on the coast. Unless you have a VERY large greenhouse; even the shorter trees, pruned for commercial farms, are fairly tall and can be rather wide.

If any one help to grow the tree and what are the precautions to be observed and how to prepare recipe all I need. I am the only person growing the tree and those who happened to see the tree enquire me what is this?...Please let me know the disease a yellow colour changing in the fruit stem after it reaches harvesting decayed and fall down.

Why is it called bread-fruit?

I have had roasted whole breadfruit, which is a Jamaican style of cooking it, and when finished the inside actually has a texture of a dense bread (kind of like hard dough bread) and is really good! Boiling or frying it does not produce the same texture or flavor but is still very good.

Mister Drummings roasted taste good. It is actually one of many Polynesian style of cooking breadfruit. Jamaicans most likely learned it from the crew of The Bounty when William Bligh transported the ‘ulu from Tahiti to Jamaica
